I'm looking forward to seeing this mavs team play. Haven't watched em all season. Heard Carlisle is getting the most outta Ellis, and Dirk is back.

Saw them a few times, going to be tricky, but being at the Fieldhouse should see us win this.

Wasn't really a good game at all... We couldn't even score

Good timing for the break, this looked like our offense from the beginning of last year.

God, I just finished watching it. Most. Frustrating. Game. So. Far.

I don't know whether it was a lack of effort and commitment or Marion being the DPOY or, something more sinister, that in fact, if a team focuses on D AGAINST us, we are unable to cope. (the fact that we did still manage to play very good D against them worries me a lot in this respect).

Most damning stat of the night: 32.1% FG

Individual effort:

PG24 having another completely ineffective game and, dare I say it, looking like a chucker at times, Lance unable to make anything happen, not in the least because he seemed frozen out of play for entire stretches, George Hill failing to get plays going time and time again, West having one of his worst shooting nights, Hibbert not being used in the post anywhere near enough, Ian missing a dunk, not just missing it, but murdering a wide open chance, Scola beginning to look old or at the least tired, CJ unable to find any rhythm nor providing the spark of the bench we know he can deliver and Granger still looking like a completely different player than what he used to be.

If even only one of them had played better offensively we would have won with ease. I hope they feel rubbish this week because this and the Magic loss were completely unnecessary and should raise some real serious questions about commitment and the Heat are still only 2,5 games behind.

I think that Carlisle spent all of the Mavs' time prepping for this game (and none getting ready for Charlotte). I really think he enjoys sticking it to the Pacers.
That said, he's a great coach and the Pacers were completely at a loss for every defense the Mavs threw at them. Carlisle 1, Vogel 0 last night.

Game 52, Mavericks vs. Pacers

Post#14 » by mikepacernation » Thu Feb 13, 2014 6:16 pm

I'm starting to get worried that they are going to let the Heat take the 1 seed. I don't like our chances in Miami in game 7.

I think scola isn't the answer he looks old and just doesn't even play like the scola I watched. I think it's maybe time to play copeland? He can add extra scoring and he not great on defense but scolas not really great at it either

I agree with EuroPacer about PG looking like a chucker. He doesn't try to get to the basket very much it tries to do some ridiculous fade away 3. At that point in the 4th quarter when he started chucking everything he touched I got up an left the game.

Yeah have to agree with that sentiment. Carlisle clearly had the Mavs pumped for this one.

This game was torture to watch.
The offense just never seemed to click at all.
I agree with mikepacernation about Copeland. And from when he was playing earlier in the season, I thought his defense looked just fine. Scola is averaging what single digits off the bench? Throw Copeland in there and all of those Lance drive and kicks to Scola are now Copeland Threes.

I'm just gonna chalk this up to PG goin through some life stuff, and the long NBA season getting to a team expecting a win at home. Every team has terrible games, don't need to read too much into it.
