Where art thou Hendo? Has he led us to a victory all season? I can't recall a game where he was clearly our best player on the floor and had a great performance that gave us a W. It feel like every time he's had a good game that we loss. Lol

He plays choppy. The ball stops and unlike Big Al, it doesn't end in easy buckets it ends in off-balance garbage.
He needs to go.
He needs to go.

Hes still a good deal at 6 per, but hes not a starting NBA SG

Somewhat yes and somewhat no. I can't fully agree or disagree.

Re: Where is the 3pt Line? - The Hendo Thread
What did you expect though, Catch? As I've said before - Hendo is who he is. I don't remember in which camp you were, but the majority of people here were against me and wanted us to sign him. Some were okay with us giving him 7 or 8 mil per season...
I called him out for going after a new contract as it was happening. I remember using his suddenly increased shots at the rim (I think they were twice as much after the all-star break) as evidence.
And actually, I can't say that I'm that disappointed now. We'll need to find another starting 2-guard in time but at 6mil Hendo is good value. He does give you good one-on-one defense as he's feisty and will chase guys through screens (not that good at team defense though), will score 15 points per game and it generally seems that he does care as he plays hard.
I'm also disappointed in his lack of a three pointer (another thing I kept saying the whole spring-summer) and aggression on the offensive end but that's what 6mil gets you. Moreover, there are shooting guards who earn more, yet I wouldn't want them on their current contracts over Hendo.

Re: Where is the 3pt Line? - The Hendo Thread
looking back at it I have to say that I exaggerated. I believe I said that we shouldn't re-sign him at all. even if JT wouldn't have gone down, I think now we can see that JT-Gordon-CDR wouldn't have held down the 2-guard position.
so who else we could have gone with? Mayo, Ellis, Jarrett Jack, Neal, Evans, JR Smith or Webster? I don't think we would really want any of those guys on their current contracts. I guess Kevin Martin and Belinelli would have been a decent outcome, despite Martin's atrocious D.
of course you can also mention the likes of Mike Dunleavy and Francisco Garcia (I really wanted him) who should be bench players but hypothetically could have been brought over for the starting position.
Oh and we can't act like we expected a decent season out of Xavier Henry.

Excellent post Lamar, though I'm extremely happy we re-signed him and always wanted us too.
Hendo is a valuable piece imo, I'm not talking trade value but in terms of the make up of our team and his history with the franchise.
To be honest without his leadership we may have gone 0-66.
The guy offers us good minutes and if we had the SG version of Tolliver backing him up then his production would be more than sufficient as a starter playing SG in the league as it stands and excellent as a sixth man.
The biggest knock on Henderson imo is that he isn't as good as he could have been or could still be.
He's such a good mid range shooter and people forget that, if throughout his career from now, he can shoot between 32-34 percent from deep then he is great value.
His shot selection can be infuriating because he takes good looks but the wrong type of shot a lot of the time, even though he is inconsistent from deep, his biggest knock is that he does not take enough open looks from there.
He scores 15ppg on good efficiency but he could score 17 ppg on great efficiency imo.

Another excellent post Lamar!
I honestly feel like the only positions we need to fill in the immediate future are SG and PF (and only for upgrades)
Of the guys you listed, the best FA to target would have been Webster imo and we would have had to pay him more than Washington.
I think it would be wise to keep both Henderson and McRoberts if we can and using cap space to target starters at both of those positions or using draft picks on prospects who (can) play those positions is a better idea than trading one of our core.
Henderson is a good player and a good pro and is young enough to be a part of our team going forward, he is cheap enough also.
I believe we need to replace him at starter but he would be an excellent sixth man.

I was in the camp of wanting to re-sign him but for nothing over $7 mil but I figured it would be around $6 mil. I just didn't want us to draft McLemore so I was kinda okay with the idea of bringing Hendo back. I'm just not a fan of his pseudo Kobe style of play and can't wait until we find a replacement. My post wasn't about his money tho. I'm just wondering why the hell don't he show up when we need him sometimes like last night when Jefferson and Kemba were clearly off.

Agree and disagree. His contract is just fine for what he is. He doesn't need to be our best or even second best player. He just gives us 10-20 points and a little of everything else every game. I'll take that. Just wish we had someone better who'd knock him into the sixth man role.
However, he's a starting SG no question. He's just better suited as a top notch backup.

I only wanted us to resign Henderson pre-Jefferson signing, only because we were so short on talent at the time. But after we brought in Big Al, I was an advocate for not resigning Henderson. His contract isn't that bad though. I think he'll be very tradable next season.

I know, I know. I wasn't calling you out or anything. It was more of a way to get into my own point.

Re: Where is the 3pt Line? - The Hendo Thread
I think in revisionist theory most of us dislike the re-signing of Henderson because his contract hinders the possibility of paying (or overpaying) for a more suitable starting SG to replace him in the starting lineup without putting a cap on the cap space for future signings to improve the team. The way I see it, Cho would be wise to trade Henderson for the expiring contract of a lesser player in essentially a take one step backwards to take two steps forward scenario
I honestly don't think losing Henderson would hurt the team much if any since I don't see him as a impact player. Henderson is basically a stopgap himself, so replacing him with a stopgap that'll at least provide 3-point shooting could be beneficial to team chemistry as much as their financial outlook

I would probably pay a SG that is a carbon copy of Gerald that had a legit 3pt shot 8 million

Gerald even if he only had Kemba's three-point touch is at least as good as Derozan.

Nope, your spelling is perfect, and so is Afflalo's fit with this team. If Afflalo was under contract for a year or two longer than he is, I'd trade anything and everything short of Kemba, Al, MKG, Biz, and DET pick for him. Yes, that includes Zeller.

I think Orlando has loss a lot of leverage in trading Afflalo since his production has plummeted to some degree lately after a scorching hot start to the season. The Magic shouldn't be too reluctant to deal Afflalo for Ben Gordon's expiring & Portland's 1st rounder considering the fact that they'll have a top-5 pick and are most likely to draft a guard with their selection which will create a even bigger logjam at that position for them than they already have, ultimately leading to desperation to get Afflalo off their roster to the point that they may rid themselves of him for a 2nd rounder during the offseason
