As for slam dunk trades being done in reality - most trades that make sense for both sides never come to fruition.

except that Asik doesn't want to be there.
---and some trades that people think are terrible or unlikely do happen in real life.

Thing is we don't HAVE to trade Asik and we definitely don't have to involve Lin in any trade. We like him here now he is playing well. He would be starting now but bev isn't a playmaker so he can't really ever play with the second unit...Lin plays a lot with our first unit and is an amazing 6th man

He now knows we won't trade him for crap so he has to come back and play hard and up his value or toil on the bench lose value and money for his next contract

If carmelo doesnt straight say he will re-sign trade him.. That bulls package wasnt that good but its better than nothing

Knicks get - hinrich, butler, snell, boozer and a pick, That was what the trade looked like right? Id try and get them to throw an extra pick in the trade ontop of that

Bulls get- melo, shump, felton

Trade tyson NEXT year he will be more valuable because he will be an expiring contract .. Maybe you can get some picks for him

Amare and bargnani try to do the same with them or just let them expire off the books

Tank hard next year for center jahlil okafor

Do some scouting and find yourself a point guard

Pg- ???
Sg- hardaway jr
Sf- jimmy butler/snell
Pf- jeremy tyler
C- jahlil okafor

Extremely young roster, capspace coming off the books, bulls pick, if you play your cards right with tyson maybe you can even send him to a contender for some picks

One baby step at a time

1) Ok? You said that Asik and Lin expire after next season...well...so does Tyson. I don't get why you brought this up if the contracts all end at the same time.

brought it up b/c it's not the length but the $amount that matters in resigning Parsons while keeping under the tax. our package is about 2million less than Asik/Lin. so if someone offers 4/$48 for Parsons, in 2014-2015 with our Package houston will have more wiggle room to match without going over the tax. I use that figure b/c I'm guessing that's the high end offer.
Only reason rumors are coming up now as opposed to later is b/c of Asik and his agent.

? Nobody can offer Parsons a contract next season besides the Rockets. They can also go over the cap to re-sign him. As for the tax -- the contract will expire and Chandler's new contract will begin at the same exact time Chandler/Lin/Asik's contract all expire...Parsons gets his salary for next season, next season. Then the extension kicks in -- which will be AFTER Chandler, Lin, and Asik are all off the books.

There is no legitimate Lin / Asik to NY rumor. They are all bogus and made up.

That's incorrect. If Houston exercise the option on Parson, Parson will becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2015, the same time Asik/Lin's contract expired.

The reason for the rumor is it makes sense for both them. Knicks might lose Melo in the free agent. Right now, if Knicks and Rockets work out a deal where Melo plus fillers go to Houston and in return, Knicks pick up Asik/Lin/Parson and fillers. Knicks exchange Melo for youth potential players. You can build a team around Asik/Lin. Parson is an complete player and can play both inside and out. All 3 of them has good defense.

I honestly don't think a Asik/Lin team has a worst record than what the Knicks has now.

Yes, I made a mistake w/ the years, Knickstape1214 already pointed this out.

record doesn't matter. if you think anyone--especially Dolan-- will trade a first ballot hall of famer in his prime for a couple of role players--you're crazy.
the only way Melo is traded is if he goes to Dolan and says he will walk.

Under this scenario, OKC can replace three pieces of their rotation with an upgrade at the starting C position and only add $29,714 to their payroll, keeping them clear of luxury tax. We solve our C position long term and add a cheap wing prospect.

So let me start by saying I'm not in favor of trading Melo but this is an interesting piece by Tommy Beer on hypothetical Melo trades. I personally think the only one that makes reasonable sense and I would consider doing is the PHX trade.

Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton and $2 million in cash
Suns send: Emeka Okafor, Goran Dragic, 2014 first-round draft pick, and a 2015 first-round pick

Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith
Grizzlies send: Zach Randolph, Tayshaun Prince, Ed Davis, Kosta Koufos and a future first-round pick

Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Cole Aldrich
Dallas sends: Shawn Marion, Shane Larkin, Brandan Wright, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Ricky Ledo and two future first-round picks

Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, Beno Udrih, Kenyon Martin and Cole Aldrich
Wizards send: Marcin Gortat, Otto Porter Jr., Trevor Ariza, Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton, 2014 second-round pick and 2016 first-round pick

Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin
Celtics send: Kris Humphries, Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger and a 2014 first-round pick

What are your guys thoughts...would you enterain any of these deals for Melo? I personally feel most of these deals are pretty crappy.
all horrible

I'm willing to trade Melo to any team that takes JR and Felton's contract. Trade chandler to highest bidder. Buy out Amare. Tank next season for a top 3 pick with 2015 free cap space

Felton for anyone. But that won't happen b/c there is no one in the league who will take him without compensation. Him on the floor loses us games. This guy can't dribble a basketball, let alone make others better. I can't believe he's closing games for us when Prigs is available. WTF is wrong with Woodson?

The best thing that can happen for the Knicks is having Felton get injured for the season.

My real trade scenario that I feel pushes us into the playoffs:

Bargs to Boston
Green / Shump / Faverini to Cleveland
Deng to NY

Deng might be my favorite player in the NBA. No one works harder on defense. You'll see him shade over to help and recover before his man can do anything with the ball. You can run zero plays for him and he'll get you 17 pts 5 rebs 5 asts. He'll never stand in one place. He'll make back cuts and crash the offensive glass.

I'm sick of Shump's entitlement approach to the game. Bargs is just a mistake from day one.

Boston is trying to dump Green on any takers to have cap space in 2015 .

I know Mills will not do anything smart. He like every other knicks GM not named Walsh will overpay for any player. This move is exactly the type of smart move a real GM would make. Not that my scenario is super realistic - I mean Bargs is italian trailer trash. But going after a guy like Deng is what contending teams do.

Woodson & Felton will not be here day 1 of training camp next season. If they are, it's b/c Melo has left and we are purposely tanking.
