I don't think he shoots too much.
He only takes 15 shots a game, 18 including ftas.
The Kings just don't have any other perimeter threats.
57 TS 20 Points 6.3 Assists 22 PER 34 MIns
Pass First Point Guards are overrated.

I don't think it's necessarily that he shoots too much, but rather that he spends a good deal of his energy in a game looking to create a shot for himself. Most of his passes are off of him trying to create a shot for himself as well. It's not what you really want out of a player when there are 2 better options in front of him on the team.
Jimmer Fredette has a better pick and roll game than Thomas at this point. Thomas is better at getting into the teeth of the defense but I've seen more direct scoring out of Fredette in the pick and roll both as a scorer or passer than Thomas.
I still think this team should rely less on the pick and roll and go with more of a post up offense, or spread offense that uses spacing and motion off the ball. Get players like McLemore and Thornton accustomed to spot shooting if they are going to get themselves into the game by shooting 3's anyway. This team needs more motion. Guys have stopped moving because this is essentially a pick and roll, 2 man game team right now, and not a great one either. Not terrible but not great. Find a way to use the weapons you have off the ball. If guys move off the ball and get looks, they'll keep moving with the kind of passion and intent this team hasn't seen lately.
They don't need to make IT a more pass first guard, that's not his game, but they can certainly use Cousins more for his passing. This team has become less and less competitive as Cousins' assist numbers have gone south, there is a reason for that. Some of that has to do with the lack of motion.
Beyond all that, the trade deadline is totally effecting this team. I'm not shocked and nobody should be either. It's also not a coincidence that this team has seen a negative effect in all the the team commitment areas of the game, like cutting, team defense, and patience and belief in your offensive sets. Hard to commit to a team that you are unsure of as to who they are committed to.
