i'd bet the majority of the people who post on this board don't ever come in and read this thread, certainly not regularly anyway

Well my dad was kind of a rock historian who found a way to get a job driving new corvettes from Seattle to San Diego and it was the 60's so he could follow bands while he did that. He was at the summer of love and saw some very historic concerts minus woodstock (west coast guy). Check out Altmont keyword 'angels biker" and Monterey Pop. So my influences were really like Van Morrison Stones, The Doors, Crosby Stills Nash, Warren Zevon, and Jackson Browne on pop's side and kenny rodgers, waylon jennings, eagles, Elton John, and roy orbison on mom's. My own era would be Freedy Johnston, Tool, JJ Cale, (specifically unsigned java joe era Jason Mraz- f him post signing), Cars, Neal Casal, Hannah McEuen, Gwar, Todd Hannigan, Shades of Day, and Matthew Sweet... to name a few. Also... i made a living off of writing hip hop in the early 2000's and love Latyrx, Jurassic 5, Cool Kieth, Del the Funky Homosapien, Blackalicious, Chronic Dre, Doggy Style Snoop, Cypress Hill (minus the rocknroll album), and Pharcyde.
I wrote a song of my own before I ever covered anyone (it sucked), but First song covered on guitar was nothing else matters (Metallica) and last dance with Mary Jane (Petty). which... i have a deal with the engineer doing metallica's next album and it starts in 3 weeks. I'm thinking about totally barging it and watching as a total dork from the control room because it's a live album in studio which they have never done and I'm really curious. If I do I'll post some pics and details, but this studio is now the most advanced in the world and it's pretty wow even for a jaded old rocker. Metallica's will be the first to cut there.
