if only the raptors lost :(

i dont really care about the raptors to be honest. i just want us to come out and play hard and beat the bad teams. if we dont win the atlantic we dont win the atlantic. us finishing over .500 and the knicks continuing to be terrible would be a silver lining to this season for me.

it would piss me off if we didnt finish over .500. looking at our schedule, 16-16 the rest of the way isnt unreasonable given our age/inconsistency/injury proneness and most importantly our schedule is just brutal (insane road trip, several back to backs

Read my post above.

Paul was simply spectacular!

he was excellent, im glad we finally got a win in a game where he went off.... it kind of sucked the last couple times he had huge games, brought us back late, and we fell short with the team really letting him down.

im hoping he gets hot from three. that straight away three sued to be automatic for him. he is shooting well but he needs to get back to where those are money every time.

Pierce on the season: 13.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.8 apg, 2.2 TOpg, 57.4% TS, 107 ORating

His FG% is 43.1% and his 3pt% is 35.9%. He's really turned it around and is back to being Paul Pierce.

In 2014 (19 games): 14.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.6 TOpg, 61.3% TS, 116 ORating

His FG% is 46.8% and his 3pt% is 38.2% in that time.

Step & TRB3:

The reason is CLEAR AS FREAKING DAY - it is RECOVERY FROM INJURY!!! It is NOT a mystery. It is NOT age-related decline. Paul is clearly no longer in his prime, but, when healthy, he is STILL, even at age 36, one of the most elite SFs in the mother **** NBA totally capable of sustained periods of All Star/All Pro play!!!

Last season, he shot HORRIBLY in 1/2013 in particular, a bunch of "really astute" fans (Celtic & non-Celtic) said he was washed up, LOL. Turns out he was playing through a very painful & limiting injury - an UNREVEALED compressed cervical nerve in his right neck. Once the symptoms abated, he went gang busters & put up All Pro numbers after the ASG/after Rondo went down (19 on 48.5% & 42.5% & TS% 61% & 6.2RPG & 5.6APG & 3 Trip Dubs & led the Celtics to the second best record in the NBA during those 2 months - until KG got hurt in late 3/2013). This season, as I have posted a hundred **** times, he shot HORRIBLY in 11/2013 in particular, & a load of "geniuses" again said he was washed up, LOL. And then we find out (from KG) that he was playing with an UNDIAGNOSED, painful & limiting fracture in his shooting hand between 11/11/13 & 11/25/13. And then the fracture gradually heals, and he shoots 45.9% overall & 44.7% from 3 in 12/2013, & then puts up the OUTSTANDING numbers posted by the TRB3 above in the 19 games he has played in CY 2014 - 14.6 on 46.8% & 38.2%, TS% 61.3%, 116 ORating.

He is STILL the mother **** Truth - not as spry as he used to be - but STILL ELITE AS ALL HELL - even at 36!!!

Question for TRB3: How did you get those 19 games in 2014 numbers? Went to a site? Calculated it yourself? The sites I use give the "splits" by the month - they do not combine months, e.g. 1/2014 & 2/2014. Please share your sourcing with me.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

I have seen him totally dominate games like this literally HUNDREDS of times during his 15 1/2 year, magnificent HOF career. This is his 11th game out of 45 where he has scored between 18 & 33 points & his 6th game where he has scored between 23 & 33 points with extraordinary efficiency.

Listen up, my Nets friends, this is the man who even at freaking age 36 will help to lead this team very deep into the POs.

I posted before this game that Paul had become too unselfish & was not aggressively looking for his shot during the last 3 games - after 25 & 33 point games just prior to that. I guess he read my post. LOL.

After 6 games in 2/2014: 15 PPG on 58.7% & 50% from 3 - playing ONLY 25 MPG & shooting ONLY 7 FGA per game.

After absolutely horrendous shooting in 11/2014 (when he played 3 weeks with an undiagnosed fractured shooting hand), Paul has now jacked up his seasonal stat line to: 13.4 PPG on 43% & 36% from 3 - playing less than 29 MPG & shooting ONLY 9.8 FGA per game. 4.7RPG & 2.8APG.

Truth still has PLENTY of freaking game left at age 36!

Big win. A Paul Pierce win. A great team win.

I liked DWill's penetration very much tonight. Great ball movement on O, & great team/individual D.

Hope JJ gets his shot back - it has disappeared somewhat.

Standings squeezing tighter than hell! Great results tonight!
Raps won. :(. Still 3 games behind the 3rd seed & 2 games behind in the L column.
Bulls did not play. 1.5 games behind the 4th seed & 1 game behind in the L column.
Hawks LOST! 0.5 games behind the 5th seed & TIED in the L column.
Wiz LOST in OT! Virtual TIE for the 6th seed.

And Bobcats, Pistons & Knicks all LOST, & fell 4, 4 & 6 games behind the Nets in the L column.

BEAT the freaking Bulls tomorrow & get to 25-26 at the All Star break, DAMMIT!

Right on! I hope you are right.

Can't beleive the Knicks lost tonight at home against the Kings. The Kings are a pretty entertaining team, just not very good. Jimmer had a career high 24. Lol.

I was switching back and forth from the nets to knicks game. My wife calls me a hater cuz I want to see the Knicks fail. I'm not going to lie, I get great joy watching that franchise fail.

This is Pierce's game log for this season from basketball reference: http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... elog/2014/

You can look at any stretch of games you want by clicking on the first game, and then the last game. A pop up will come up showing you his average numbers over that stretch. For example, to get those last 19 games, I clicked on the OKC game on January 2nd (it gets highlighted in blue), and then I clicked on the last game against the Bobcats on February 12. You can also check the advanced stats by clicking on the yellow tab at the top that says "switch to advanced game log". Check the same stretch of games, and you can get advanced stats like TS%, ORating, PER, and WS/48.

BTW, I've been meaning to ask you, could you explain about Wade's foot drop injury? How serious is it and what does it mean for him going forward?

Thanks much.

Using my iPad & tapping the iPad screen. When I tap on the blue link for the date of the first game in the stretch of games I want to analyze, it turns blue at first & then yellow & the box score for that game pops up - before I can tap on the date for the final game in the stretch of games. LOL. What am I doing wrong? I am so freaking IT-challenged. It is amazing that I know how to use Word, Acrobat & Power Point somewhat - to write papers & make simple slides.

Did you see my comment about Magic/HIV re Dick Gregory?

I am an endocrinologist/internist/Professor of Medicine - neurologists & neurosurgeons would know the most about Wade's trauma-induced foot drop - WAY out of my comfort zone. Check this out:

"The peroneal nerve is a branch of the sciatic nerve that wraps around the fibular head ("funny bone") near the knee and then innervates muscles that lift the foot and toes. Damage to this nerve from injury (e.g., knee dislocation), or even surgery, may cause a foot drop. Patients have foot extension weakness, as well as numbness or pain on their shin and top of the foot. Diagnosis is made with a history and examination, and confirmed with electrical testing. For patients with severe trauma, or for those with spontaneous, non-traumatic foot drops, it is important to exclude other causes, including sciatic nerve injury, lumbosacral root trauma (SI joint dislocations and fractures), and even a herniated disc compressing the L5 nerve root. A combination of neurological assessment and electrical testing excludes these other causes. High-resolution 3-T MRI may be useful in evaluating certain lesions.

Unfortunately, for uncertain reasons, the peroneal nerve has a POOR CHANCE OF RECOVERY, with or without surgery. The mainstay of early treatment is physical therapy and a properly fitting, custom-made orthotic (foot splint). This orthotic is unobtrusive, and usually allows a return to normal daily activity.

Depending on the type of injury, surgery may be recommended immediately, or after waiting a few months. Surgical repair includes possible decompression, nerve suture, or nerve grafting. Other surgical options include nerve transfer and tendon transfer (see technology and techniques available section). A nerve transfer involves taking a branch from a less important lower leg muscle and connecting it to the muscle that lifts the foot. A tendon transfer involves taking a tendon that moves the foot inward, and connecting it to the top of the foot so that it now lifts the foot upward, thereby resolving the drop foot.

Because peroneal nerve injuries recover very poorly if too much time elapses before treatment, these patients should consider all their options before opting for a more conservative "wait and see" approach."

Don't click on the box score link.

Might be easier on a computer, but for example, in the OKC game on January 2nd, his +/- was +6 (it's listed on the far right). Click on the +6. That should highlight that row in blue and shouldn't take you anywhere else. Then click on his +/- in the game against the Bobcats (+26), and that should highlight those 19 games in blue and give you a popup that tells you his averages.

Thanks for the info about Wade's foot drop btw, I appreciate it. And yes, I did see your comment about Magic and Dick Gregory.

Thanks. I got it to work with your help! I do not see PER amongst the Advanced Stats. Do you know where it can be found?
