lol what a horrid return for monroe. we might as well just keep him at that point...

Toronto

Its been rather quiet on the Pistons trade talk this week. Calm before the storm?

It seems like Dumars' trades always come when its the quietest. I wonder if something big is going down.

It also could just be because of the coaching change that all the talk around the league has been focused on that, in regards to the Pistons.

What could we offer for Ilyasova?

They might be willing to dump him for CV as bad as he's been this year, his shot has been falling lately but you can tell not having a PG on the team hurts a guy like him.

I think so, he could be a great fit next to Drummond.

okay that is a LOT of money to take on for a potentially decent fit next to drummond. we'd be better off letting CV expire and finding comparable talent for much cheaper in FA

here's a good talent return i thought of for monroe:
in the offseason, we could sign & trade moose to the nuggets for chandler, miller, faried, and their 1st rounder from the knicks. that's a pretty lofty asking price, but the nuggets have a lot of money committed to players that don't make major contributions. this trade gives them a sure fire frachise big to pair with lawson as a cornerstone.
they could then start shopping mcgee for further financial flexibility. maybe something like nash and the lakers 1st rounder for mcgee?
this is the type of return we need for monroe, not aaron afflalo or jeff green or some other horrible suggestions i've seen for monroe.

Monroe could bea 15-16 millions/year contract, Smith 14 millions/year contract. Do you think 8 millions/year is a lot of money for a perfect fit for Drummond? I prefer Ryan Anderson but I don't know if we could get him here, anyway he's got the same price.

I rather pay Josh Harrellson 1 million per year then trade for Ilyasova.

1. Mitchell for a 2nd
2. Bynum for a 2nd
3. Smoove for Green and Faverani
4. Jerebko and MOOSE for Chandler, Mozgov and 6 2nd's
5. CV-DNP, Datome and 15 2nd's for Afflalo

backcourt: Jennings, Stuckey, Afflalo
frontcourt: Green, Chandler, Singler, Drummond, Mozgov
spot minutes: KCP and Harrelson
reserves: Siva, Billups, Faverani

* easily a 3rd-6th seed in the L'eastern Conference this season.
* great chance at the 2nd round.
* good long-term too.
* Drummond-friendly.
* cap-friendly - just re-sign Stuck or sign a different back-up pg if necessary and stay at the cap.
* deep and versatile for many, many effective line-ups.
* this will absolutely happen. all 5 of these trades. less than a week to go, but still.

I could see us going after a Gary Neal type.

Ilyasova is over-paid and he plays zero defense. I don't even think we'll offer CV for Ilyasova.

Ross isnt going anywhere unless we give an asset back, wouldn't mind going after Lowry though.

Jennings + Monroe and CV for Lowry, Amir, Landry Fields and a protected first?

Obviously would be a pretty minor deal, but does anyone think we should make an offer to the Pels for Pierre Jackson? He's absolutely dominating the D-League this year, and would be an upgrade with more upside over someone like Will Bynum off the bench.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

IMO he's all hype, someone like Charlotte or Cleveland will get him and he'll be exposed. There are better options if we want someone like that

What about a 3 way trade with Boston and Milwaukee? Milwaukee wants to trade Neal so how about:

DET Trades: Smith (And release Datome)
DET Receives: Green, Neal

BOS Trades: Green, Bogans
BOS Receives: Smith

MIL Trades: Neal
MIL Receives: Bogans

Milwaukee gets an expiring contract for Neal. We get a starting calibre SF and a very solid 3 point shooter who can start or come off the bench in Neal. And Boston gets Smith.
