All-Star Break to Start of Next Season

Post#1 » by jaredtyshaf » Fri Feb 14, 2014 4:00 pm

What would you like to see happen between now and then? What semi-realistic scenerio would you like to see occur?

I'll get things started....

- Explore every possible opportunity to trade Smith and pick one
Possibility: Smith & CV for Amare & Shumpert
- Try to lock up Moose for 10-12mil per (If not just match this summer)
- Ride out season and see what we have Joyer.
- Get 6th+ in playoffs and win 1 series
- Fire Joe D
- Offer "Full Control" to Phil Jackson
- Let Phil decide on a coach (Joyer, Hollins, etc.)
- Go after Deng or Ariza

I understand the entertainment appeal of this thread idea- but this team is going to experience too much change to be able to reasonably predict what is going to happen, now through the off-season.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if someone actually did predict how this **** storm will settle?

I think we will get 7 or 6 seed and take that team to a 6 game series and lose. Loyer will then enter into discussions of being head coach

Pretty reasonable list but here is what I'm thinking:
- We don't trade Smith at the deadline. If we do anything, it will be a more minor trade, using CV or Stuckey and getting a shooter.
- We definitely are going to sign Monroe.
- Coaching change will come, but only after Dumars announces his new position with the Cavs.
- Phil Jackson is NOT coming but some hot assistant GM that we don't know about will be the new GM.
- New GM definitely hires the new coach.
- Our SF position will not be filled by Deng (too expensive). Ariza or Otto Porter via trade?

What I hope happens from until the next all star break:

- Trade for Afflalo without involving Dre/Moose. They agree because Joe also throws in a year's supply of popcorn.
- We make it to the playoffs as the 8th seed lose to the Pacers 4-2.
- WAS offers Monroe 13.5 mil per for 4 years, slightly under the max. We match.
- We hire Lionel Hollins, who manages to get Jennings/Smith under control.
- Jennings becomes a top 10 PG. Smith develops an allergic reaction to the 3pt shot. Monroe becomes the 6th man in the Corliss Williamson role.

- We go on to face the Bobcats in the 1st round of the 2015 playoffs. After going down 3-1, we pick up our play and go on to win 4 straight as Arron Affllao channels his inner Ray Allen.

- We go on to face the Cavaliers in the second round. In game 2, Jennings loses control of the ball to Kyrie with roughly 10 seconds left and a 2 point lead. KCP chases down Kyrie and blocks the shot into the 13th row, saving the day. We win the series.

We face the Heat in the ECF. In a pivotal game 5 at the Palace, LeBron nails a 3 pointer to give the Heat a 3pt lead with 5 seconds left. With no timeouts remaining, Jennings takes the ball and nails a half court heave off glass as time runs out. But alas, an untimely Rasheed Wallace technical cost us the game in overtime. We go on to take game 6 and 7 convincingly, shocking the world.

- We face the Thunder in the Finals. Lead by Durant/Westbrook, everyone chooses the Thunder as the eventual champs. Despite this, we win the series 4-1, with the only loss coming in game 2 as Durant nails a three to send it into overtime. Bringing championship number 4 to Detroit.

Trade Smith to Phoenix for Okafor (expiring)

Trade Monroe/Jennings to OKC for Westbrook

Let Okafor, Stuckey, CV, and Billups walk via free agency

In the offseason, sign Ariza, Deng, and Hawes.

Draft PF Adrien Payne in the 2nd round of the draft.

Westbrook / Bynum
Ariza / KCP
Deng / Singler
Hawes / Payne / Mitchell
Drummond / Hawes / Harrellson

Then in 2016 Smith leaves his man open for a corner 3 and the Pistons dont repeat.

I see what you did there. Just shows you how special 2004 was. If it was a script nobody would believe it.

I would like for Jennings to stop being a shoot first pt guard and have a shooting % of around 45%. Also would love for Jennings just to stay in front of his man defensively. Trade Bynum and C. V. for a back up pt guard who can get the team in their offense and hit an open jumper.

1) Monroe, Jennings, Datome for Rondo

2) Stuckey, Jerebko, Bynum, Singler for Okafor

3) Rondo sits out the rest of the year to rest up, we tank like a rock

4) Pistons win the #3 pick in the lotto, end up with Andrew Wiggins

5) Pistons sign Lance Stephenson to a front loaded, max deal (deal goes down every year)

Rondo/Billups/Siva
Stephenson/KCP
Wiggins/Mitchell
Smith
Drummond/Harrellson

Kind of ironic of you to say that given some of your trades. Not that my post was actually serious though. 8-)
