Well then, I have some terrible news about Lucas Nogueira...

I wouldn't call one year a trend by any stretch - especially one in which we know a player over-exerted himself in the weight room. It a long way from being a injured and having an injury be chronic. Still, I can't say I'm not concerned about Nogueira and injuries - it's just not a good sign for a prospect to miss the entire season immediately after being drafted. There's no doubt that I have Muscala far ahead in the "best young C overseas whose rights we own" sweepstakes though and some of that is due to Nogueira and his hammy and knees (tbf, some is also due to Muscala ballin').Jamaaliver wrote:theatlfan wrote:Having said that, one big I wonder about having chronic injuries is enough; two is asking for trouble.

Sam Presti would laugh his way off the phone lines and block Ferry's number if we offered this.

Would you give up DMC/Brand for Hawes?

GSW is willing to trade one of Barnes or Thompson for an immediate upgrade/deeper roster (not sure which they'd prefer) to make a strong playoff run in the near future (this year or next). If they do deal 1 of their young wings, then I find it very hard to conceive they'd include Bogut in the same deal - especially without a strong C coming back.
OKC is looking for a shooter to spread the floor for their scorers. They're looking for a piece to complement Westbrook and aren't looking to replace him in their core.
PHI, OTOH, is in the opposite chair from the 2 aforementioned teams. They are a complete train wreck on the court, are below the salary floor, and have no plans on resigning Hawes come FA. They will be trading Hawes to the team that bids the most in terms of young assets. They'll happily take salary to maximize that return. DMC means nothing to them and they'd prefer to take Perkins over Brand since the extra year of salary should mean more in terms of assets and young talent - any extra $$ in salary is already sunk cost due to the penalties of being below the salary floor.
Personally, I'd offer Lou and 2 2nds for Hawes and make PHI find a better deal. I'd consider going public with the offer since teams would know that we have real interest and it'd take > MLE $$ to resign him.

My thinking is giving them Korver automatically gives them a floor spreader who maybe plays an ounce more defense than Klay. Sapp and the first makes this deal a real deal because with Lee, Sapp, Korver, AI, and Curry.. they have a team that fills every need. Last year, I was impressed by Festus Eli. I think with minutes this guy can be everything that Detroit has in Drummond.
diesel50 wrote:Don't get me wrong, I would love to pawn off Lou for anybody right now. The thing about DMC... is that I don't think Philly is looking for players. I think they are looking for a first round pick or a chemistry player to help their young squad. Whereas Lou does nothing but get in the young roster's way, I think that DMC would be a great surrogate.. especially if they get one of these young forwards in the draft. Plus DMC's contract is something that's great for a transitional year. Whereas Brand is just a retiring player. Let's not lose sight of where Philly is right now. They are a good young team trying to tank for a great player. They will probably trade both Turner and Hawes for what would seem like nothing to ensure that they get a high draft pick.
Our problem in getting Hawes is resigning him. However, getting him gives us a sneak peak on if he would fit.

?? Look, if healthy, then Bogut is the best player in this deal, and one can argue one would prefer Klay to either Millsap or Korver in terms of on court production this year - so forth when considering contracts and going forward. Barnes is better than a mid-1st. The deal is very one-sided on value alone, but the bigger problem though is that GSW is a playoff team and looking to make a run. No playoff team that is looking to stay there wants to deal off 3 if their starters for replacements - especially when the biggest piece coming back is redundant to what that already have.
Uh... OK, I'm done. If I can't convince, then go ahead and try it on the T&T board and see how well it's received...diesel50 wrote:theatlfan wrote:?? First off Bogut is never healthy. Never has been. Second... Millsap is the best player in this deal...notwithstanding the first round pick. Millsap is a freakin allstar.. coaches pick... Nuff said. Barnes.. is not a starter. Moreover, they have plenty of depth... Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks are sitting the bench with Draymond Green. But like you said, they are a playoff team. Millsap and Korver adds loads to them. But to fairen it up... same trade... we keep the pick.. they give Oneal instead of Bogut.
