76ers Believed To Be Most Active Team In Trade Talks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Feb 16, 2014 10:03 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers have held trade discussions with all 29 other NBA teams and are believed to be the most active in talks leading up to the deadline.

The 76ers are seeking future draft picks in compensation for Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young.

Teams view the 76ers as an organization willing to acquire an expiring contract.

The 76ers are not budging on their demand of high first round picks.

If someone seriously gives the 76ers a high first-round pick for Evan freaking Turner or Spencer Hawes (Stephen A. Smith voice), they should be fired on the spot.

Young has some value, but I wouldn't give up a lottery pick for him, either.

HIGH first round picks for Thad, Hawes and Turner? Either Hinkie is completely delusional about his players' trade value, or this Pompey guy is a total ass clown. I sure hope it's the latter.

With 13 million in cap space available, the 76ers should be the most active team in trade talks. That cap space is more valuable than Turner, Hawes or Thad Young. Theoretically, the 76ers could save some team 39 million in salary and luxury taxes. Guys are crazy if they don't think the 76ers can get 1st round picks for taking back salaries.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

What are the odds that the Sixers can pull a big name FA if they have cap space? Would they be better off trading for players who can help their squad the next couple of seasons? Or are they going to be playing the tank game for a while?

This franchise is a joke now. They're trading away all their talent (Iguodola, Holiday, now Young and Turner)... IS their goal to assemble the worst possible roster? How can you attract big name FAs with that joke of a roster? How can you convince your high draft picks to resign with a joke roster?

I think -- at least most of us -- will be surprised at the return the 76ers get for those on the block.

I wouldn't be surprised with a mid-lottery (think 7-10) pick for two of Hawes, Young, Turner and taking back some salary off these teams' hands. That's definitely worth it for a team that is looking to get into the playoffs.

Any fringe contender have some extra picks? Phoenix?

I guess Turner, Hawes, and Young will be Sixers after the deadline if he wants high first rounders.

Sounds to me like that DET pick CHA has is coming to Philly lol. Seriously though, the article doesn't specify when those picks would be conveyed. I would not be surprised if they got 2016, 2017 unprotected picks for Spence and Turner plus eating a bad salary or two. Sixers will be tanking again next year I'm pretty sure, but after that they will be trying to win so stockpiling some extra future firsts will be extremely beneficial.

You obviously have no clue about the NBA. Thad- Hawes- Turner aren't winning us squat. Our core is realistically MCW, Nerlens Noel, and Wroten....We will add a possible top 3 pick & top 10 pick as well, plus any other draft picks this year if we make a trade.

We will then have a solid young core that will have a potential ROY from this year, a player in Noel who was supposed to be the #1 pick last year, and a potential all-star/type from this year's draft.

76ers are doing amazing things, you're just too blind and uninformed to know it. The 76ers have been mediocre for 10+ years because of thinking like yours. Should of blew it up a long time ago.

With all that cap space, Sam Hinkie has every reason to stand pat and re-sign his young players this Summer. If no GMs are willing to offer high first round picks, so be it.

The Sixers already have 5 first round picks plus Nerlens Noel joining them next Season. This is gonna be one helluva dynasty in the making.

Completely agree. I think the Sixers have been one of those teams that have made some good moves recently just like Phoenix. Up and coming teams. I thought the Jrue Holiday-Nerlens Noel trade was a headscratcher but it paid off. Too soon to say, but I think Noel will be a solid defensive guy. If they can add a guy like Embiid or Smart, watch out!

The main thing most are forgetting is that in order for this "dynasty" to occur, the right picks have to be made... Evan Turner was one the #2 overall pick. Now they're looking to move him for a top 25-30 pick. They struck gold with MCW, but they still need to roll about 3 more lucky 7's to be a playoff team, much less a "dynasty"

old management picked ET, new management picked MCW and Nerlens in their first draft, I think I'm liking our chances going forward.

You're absolutely right in saying the correct picks have to be made. They need a dash of luck too. For example, imagine if OKC is left with Oden at 2nd overall in 2007.

We have less than 4 days to go before the trade deadline. This looks set to be one of the most boring deadlines ever.
