Andre Miller Has No Interest In Returning To Nuggets' Lineup
Feb 16, 2014 11:49 AM EST

Andre Miller has no desire to return to the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets were attempting to bring Miller back to the team after more than a month in which they were unsuccessful in trading him away.

"The vibe is delusional," the source said. "It's a burned bridge. No reconciliation. He's waiting by the door with his bag already packed. The relationship is irreparable. Under no circumstances does he want to come back to Denver.

"Andre hasn't spoken about the situation. He's being quiet out of goodwill."

Miller has been working out daily at the Nuggets' practice facility, but mostly at night away from the team.

Brian Shaw also has no interest in bringing Miller back.

Miller's camp hopes the Nuggets can still find a suitable trade before the deadline.

A trade of Felton and Artest for Miller works according to the trade checker. Miller's $5M contract expires at the end of the season.

No reason for the Nuggets to take Felton. I'm sure someone out there would offer an expiring + 2nd rounder.

also no reason for the nuggets to help the knicks as they have our 1st round pick and they want to see us finish as bad as possible.

Don't forget. the second Andre Miller becomes a Knick he will become a soon to be 38 year old pt guard whose 24-27 team didn't want and who couldn't win with Melo even when he was in his prime.
Andre Miller is not even worth 2nd round picks.

Knowing Dolan, a 38 years old veteran will be a perfect candidate for the Knicks.

It gets worse:

Andre Miller's contract pays $5 million guaranteed the next two years, then $4,625,000 with only $2 million guaranteed in 2014-15.

the only thing the knicks should be discussing with the nuggets is cap relief and the return of draft picks. it's the only thing that could pay ff massively for us.

you win the lottery, you pair melo off with wiggins. you get 2 or 3, you pair him off with parker or embiid if embiid is in the draft. if they don't fancy marcus smart, they could try trading that pick with some other asset to the cavs for kyrie or to boston for rondo.

THJ, 2018 pick (protected?), Prigioni and Tyson for Lin and Asik. I think the Rockets could go for this.

Gamble that a) you can get Shump back up to playing great defense and b) you can find a shooter cheaply to replace THJ. Or you can try to substitute Shumpert for THJ in that deal.

I'd rather deal Shumpert than Hardaway Jr because Shump is due for an extension soon & since he's restricted, a team may try to offer a "Lin-type deal" to him.

Get rid of Shumpert, while getting value back & keep THjr since he has a great cheap contract, confidence & more basketball skill than Shumpert.

- acquire a 1st round pick, to maybe add in a deal later on (shedding JR's contract)
- acquire a PG with potential with only adding maybe $2 mill to the 2015 plan, with isn't bad at all if he make major improvements
- Wouldn't have to give Shumpert a contract extension that hurts the team more than help (restricted FA in 2015 - another Lin scenario?)
- Also, keeps a dream scenario open for some fans if Lebron opts out in 2015 instead of this offseason. Teague, THjr, Melo, Lebron, Tyler & JR, with a MLE player in 2015 can be done.

I'm assuming so we can trade that 2015 1st and our 2018 1st with Teague/ Amare to Boston for Rondo and filler?
otherwise it makes no sense to trade Tyson for that Deal

We need to trade for Jeremy :(

Would be much better if Lin drew up plays for us because all Woodson does is run iso Melo

It's not happening. Dolan won't allow it. Get over it.

Quickly on the 2015 cap space. Assuming Melo is willing to take a 5 year, $109.4m deal starting at $20 million per year with 7.5% increases after years 2, 3 and 4. Melo leaves $20m on the table but still makes $10m more than any other team could pay him. But assuming what he said at the all star game is true, this contract helps the Knicks while keeping him among the highest paid players in the game. Anyway:

Anthony: $20,000,000
Teague $8,000,000
Smith $6,400,000
Prigioni $1,740,000
Hardaway $1,305,000
2015 Draft pick $1,250,000 (assuming we have the 20th pick, or lower, with Teague, Melo, Smith and Chandler)
Total Committed Salary: $38,695,000
Minimum cap holds (6): $3,000,000
Effective Payroll Number: 41,695,000
Cap Space assuming $60,000,000 cap: $18,305,000.
Stretching JR Smith reduces his cap number from $6.4 to less than $2.2 million.

Point is the Teague for Shumpert/Felton deal makes us better today without hurting our future position. The only risk is that Shumpert may end up being a better player than Teague. However, Shump needs a change of scenery and Teague has proven he can be a starting PG on a team that wins consistently. Sure, they never won a championship but they didn't' have a championship roster. If they can get this trade done they need to do it.
