Since Parsons isn't a 1st rounder and is only a team option for next year($964K), does that mean he is an unrestricted FA in the Summer of 2015? What kind of numbers could we sign him to before he hit the open market?

Really not interested and getting into some big fight again. I know how Morey operates and if he is willing to move Parsons he is going to make sure his roster is SET going forward, since he would be sacrificing his flexibility. May not be from Boston, might be from somewhere else.

The only thing I take out of all the pages in this topic is that the Knicks, Pistons, Kings, Rockets and probably 20+ other teams want Rondo. Teams are trying to get him cheap because they see the Celtics as rebuilding. Big Deal. :roll:

I'll wait til I hear something from Woj. Look forward to seeing Rondo go against the Lakers on Friday night.

I don't see it happening and don't see any purpose of getting Parsons.

The only possibility, to my mind, (except Rockets directly overpaying which is not happening) is if Parsons goes to a third team which has playoff ambitions and gives us a pick and young play (eg MKG + pick, Len + pick).
Asik would have to be involved and Rockets would have to give us their 1st (or a few 2nds which they do own).

BOS: Asik, Len, 2014 WAS 1st, pick consideration from HOU
HOU: Rondo
PHO: Parsons

I'm not sure if I would or wouldn't do this, I'm just trying to write something possible. Good thing about the deal is that we wouldn't help the team we are getting pick from.

My 2 preferences are either to keep Rondo or trade him on the draft day for a high pick.

Rocket fans value Parsons more than half of this board valued KG and Pierce the last 7 years lol.

Ditto for Asik and (for many of them) Lin as well.

That's great, but Ainge is the one who taught Morey how to operate. We are all very familiar with the model at work here. I understand what you are saying about flexibility, but Rondo is also about the caliber of Harden, in case you forgot. He's the 3rd superstar you have been waiting for, and we have a stable of legit role players to package him with.

Even if the endgame is trying to get Kevin Love 2015, that becomes significantly easier with a signed-and-traded Rondo as your trade bait.

quasi-related, but I live in the twin cities and make it to about 20-30 pups games per year, about 80% in nice seats and 20% in nose bleeds, kibitzing with all around me along the way. Maybe it is the naturally defeatist mentality of MN sports fans, but folks have given up on Rubio, nearly everyone I have spoken to is resigned that Love will be leaving them. The well informed fans are hoping MN cashes in big on Love before teams will grow weary to deal for him without a guaranteed contract.

No big time free agents will even consider the Celtics if Rondo is not in Boston. MAYBE there is a chance for Melo, Love etc. but that all goes out the window if Rondo is not in Celtics green.

Now who's overvaluing? Lin, Parsons, Asik, and TJones are all average to above average starter-caliber players with borderline star upside. Ainge would have to seriously consider it if fatboy offers 3 of those 4 and picks.

I was talking about Houston trying to get Love. Dude has claimed the loss of flexibility would hinder that chase. I'm saying they would have more value to offer Minny in a sign-and-trade. Love is the one with the leverage anyways. He tells Minny to sign-and-trade him to Houston for Rondo or lose him for nothing to a 3rd team, and they are probably down with that.
