If you're Danny, don't you have to use the Chris Paul and Deron Williams trades as your guidelines?

Trading Parsons would just be like dying, I literally might die if Parsons is traded.

So rondo nixed the deal. This is why I have always been against giving no trade clauses to any players on any sports. Good thing rondo doesn't have a no trade clause in his contract and Ainge should never give him one.

Isn't it a given that Rondo will not sign an extension with any team, including Boston?

It's a rumor. May never have happened. Just because someone types it doesn't make it true.

I think so. Which is probably why he will still be here on Friday.

Maybe a team like the Lakers or Knicks are willing to take that risk if he gives them positive indications, but then, only one of those teams has anything we'd want IMO.

No I think Rondo after possibly being told by his agent that a deal was reached and perhaps talked with his agent and said... I'm not interested in signing in Sacramento after next season or this off-season. The Kings hear that news and their enthusiasm for a trade pretty much disappears. Heck Rondo is smart enough that he may have told his agent to say NO when Ainge calls him with a Sacramento deal.

A team like Houston probably doesn't even have to ask Rondo or his agent as much since they have to be very confident if things go well that he would resign. It gives Rondo a chance to play with arguably the best center in the game now that Howard is a bit healthier and one of the best shooting guards.

Frankly even though I've advocated trading Rondo and still think its the right thing to do... I think he deserves better then Sacramento which is where the Celtics sent Ainge... Other then the Webber years, it has been a bad place to play. With the Kings, we would never probably even get to see Rondo in the post season for perhaps a long time. With the Rockets, we could see them in the finals if they have someone to guard Durant or OKC implodes from injuries. SA/Clippers would still be tough but OKC would probably be the only team favored over them.

I want the Celtics to get the best picks possible if Rondo is traded and not Parsons unless he can "recruit" Lebron like he was able to recruit Howard.

If and I stress the if, this is true... this is a BIG deal. Trades not happening... but it means it got to the point where DA had to tell Rondo that he was thinking about trading him and would he re-sign. If that's true, Rondo just got a lot less comfortable with his future in Boston.

Houston would probably take the risk since it would be hard for Rondo to leave Howard/Harden unless their really is a personality conflict. They have won 7 straight games and are third in the West. Worst case scenario for Houston, Rondo doesn't work out and I think they have some cap space.

Whether a deal happens is still hard to speculate on since Houston has to meet Ainge's asking price and Morey appears to be a tough negotiator. He reportedly does want a "third star" so perhaps something gets done.

But if Ainge had reached a deal with Sacramento it obviously means Houston wasn't offering as much since I actually think Ainge if the Houston deal was like 95% as good as Sacramento would actually take a bit less to send Rondo to a good situation. It's just good PR as well.

There may be a Celtic moved at the trade deadline but it won’t be Rajon Rondo. “He’s going nowhere,” Danny Ainge said recently.

“What’s real is, he’s going nowhere,” Ainge told the Globe earlier this year. “That’s what’s real.”

When asked recently if Rondo will be a Celtic when the deadline passes, Ainge laughed at first, then asked, “So, do I have to answer that question every day?”

Que the Danny Ainge is lying posts.

Not necessarily

Easily could have been Sac reaching out to Duffy and informing him they made an offer to Danny and wanted to know if he would resign. Heck, how do we know Danny didn't reject the deal and leak this to create value?

Very few reporters are agenda free with their news, most are working some type of angle. Not sure I understand Spears leaking this now

Spears is backtracking now, completely changing the substance of the proposed deal like a thief in the night. I wonder which team got to him?

This is how that blurb currently reads:

26. Boston Celtics (19-35; last week's ranking: 26): Source said Kings and C's discussed a deal involving Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore and a pick for Rajon Rondo, but Rondo wasn't interested in re-signing with Sacramento and the Kings strongly value McLemore.

What was "offered" has now become a mere discussion. And it's only 1 pick, not 2 and the Kings don't want to give up McLemore.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

The wording on Spears' report has changed, by the way. It now says one pick rather than two, and "discussed" rather than "offered."

I'm not trusting anything unless it's coming from Woj. Spears' is already back-tracking.

What a surprise. Reporters want to be heard. Need to catch people's attention.

So you think a deal was actually reached today? Highly doubt it. I think it's common knowledge around the league that players like Melo and Rondo will wait until their contracts are up before signing a new one. Not because they want to leave their teams, but because it only makes financial sense. It was probably less "I won't resign with Sac" .. And more "I will play out my contract regardless if I'm traded or not"

One would think Sacramento got to him... They want their players to have as much value as possible and to not needlessly upset McLemore... If Ainge got to him, he would have said it was 3 picks and not reduce it from 2 to 1.

If this report is true, it gives more credibility that Rondo was offered for the same package last year that the Pelicans gave Philly since that would have allowed him back then to draft McLemore.

Lastly it may mean even if Ainge keeps Rondo, he may want to swing a deal for McLemore and Bradley could be a goner sooner or later.
