We're all going to be mighty disappointed come the deadline when Pistons don't make any move let alone an epic blockbuster that this thread is dreaming about.

If Gores doesn't want Dumars doing any blockbusters he still needs to fill out the bench better if he's serious about getting into the playoffs. I like the idea of trading Bynum for Bayless then trade Stuckey somewhere for some damn shooters. Maybe target a Courtney Lee or Martell Webster type. Then let the new GM figure out what to do with the big boys in the off season.

I think they'd love to make big moves.

I just don't think we're gonna find the ones we need. Maybe I'm just used to it at this point. Biggest decent trade we've made in the last 8 years was unloading Tayshaun Prince.

Yeah but Joe Dumar's job has never been on the line like it is now so maybe he makes a blockbuster trade trying to save his job.

I'm inclined to believe this.

Don't expect any big deals, or any deals at all through the deadline. Expect a new GM this summer and then some player movement will happen.

I think the only way Joe keeps his job is we beat Miami or Indy in round 1. He's done too much for the franchise to just fire him now. Joe isn't moving Smith or Jennings, that would be admitting he screwed up this summer, and I don't think Gores would sign off on moving Moose unless it's a blockbuster (like the reports already say). I could see him try to do something with our expirings and pieces like Mitchell or Singler, but I could also see Gores saying no to long term money and expirings aren't quite what they used to be a few years ago.

I think that we should try to get in on the Lowry/Teague trade talks. Both of those guys are upgrades at PG for us both in terms of defense and outside shooting. Move Jennings to 6th man if we must, although NYK might be dumb enough to take him on instead.

The problem is NY want Lowry and the Raptors want Teague, so how could we steal one of them??

My understanding is that the Raps don't want to let Lowry walk for nothing, the Hawks don't feel like Teague is their point guard of the future, and NYK wants a better PG than Felton, which Jennings is. So we just have to cut out one of them to get something, if they can't negotiate an ideal trade between themselves. Jennings to NYK, Felton+Hardaway/pick to (Raps or Hawks), Teague/Lowry to Detroit. Might need more sweetner to get NYK to take Jennings and send out what they need to send out to move Lowry/Teague to us. Perhaps Mitchell could be included? He's got some value.

I'm confused. What is so great about Teague? Jennings seems just as good if not better already and I think he has a higher ceiling, plus BJ is over a year younger. If Toronto wants Teague why wouldn't they want Jennings straight up for Lowry?

Apparently the Raptors are now interested in Rondo.

I think this offseason proved that Jennings value around the league is fairly low.
He's been good at times, but i don't think he's done anything this season to changed that perception.
If we want value for jennings, he needs to be more consistent and efficient and if he can do that, we probably wouldn't trade him.

What about this 4 team blockbuster deal:

To Cavs: Charlie V and Bynum
Why? Drop Jack and Clark for cap space and a decent bench guard in Bynum

To Magic: KCP and Stuckey
Why? get a young top 10 draft choice for AA and dump Big Baby for cap space

To Boston: Monroe, Jerebko
Why? Get a franchise big in exchange for dumping Green and Olynyk.

To Detroit: Afflalo, Green, Olynyk, Big Baby, Jack, Clark
Why? Finally make the playoffs and shoot for the second round

Jennings / Jack
Afflalo / Singler
Green / Clark
Smith / Big Baby - Harrelson
Drummond / Olynyk

Cavs definitely do this deal (and we should look to make this deal regardless-Bynum is better than Terry who the Cavs are supposedly looking to trade Jack for)
Boston says yes bc Sullinger and Monroe is a nice pairing going forward
Orlando may be iffy but again they get rid of 15M of salary

Dumars you fricking moron you reading this?

We gotta get Rondo. He would help this team so much. Jennings defense is complete crap so it would be such a relief not seeing constant guard penetration. Plus as good as Jennings is as a passer Rondo is better. Rondo can't shoot but neither can Jennings but unlike Jennings, Rondo doesn't act like he can by taking bad shots. Also a better rebounder and can finish inside. He would transform us on both sides of the ball.

Right off the bat the trade doesn't work because the Cavs aren't making that deal. Clark has a team option that they can just not pick up and Jack is much better than Bynum.

Say we trade Monroe and CV for Rondo, best case scenario in my opinion, we still don't have a starting 2 or 3. If I knew for sure we could deal Jennings for a wing that can shoot I would be all for it hoping we could add another wing via free agency over the summer but Rondo will be as good as gone next year if we don't get a lot better really quick. On a side note I just saw the Kings offered Thomas, McLemore and 2 draft picks for Rajon.

Teague has a better reputation than Jennings. He isn't a chucker and he does play defense.

I'd do Jennings for Lowry in a heart beat though. I'd love to have him. Better shooter from deep, and 10 times the defender too.

If we can move some guys and clear salary, I think we should go after Lowry personally.
