Melo a possibility this summer?

According to @stevekylerNBA Carmelo could join Miami if LeBron, Wade, Bosh & Melo all sign for $14 million. That is the Heat media's dream.

What do you guys think and feel about that possibility? With Pat Riley wheeling and dealing I wouldnt be surprised if it happened. Im not banking or thinking it will happenn but cant rule it out with Riles. That team would be lethal on offense.... Lethal.

Rio or cole
Wade
Lebron
Melo
Bosh

All star game every game for us if that happened.

Not only a possibility, but IMO it will be reality.

Melo is GOOD friends with Lebron, his best chance of winning is to join LBJ down here. And I'm sure Lebron is deep in Melo's ear.

I doubt the contracts would be structured 14mil each though. Melo n Bron 16 wade 10-12 bosh 13.

Resign Beas, Oden. Grab a couple other vet ring chasers, Lewis battier mason haslem Allen all retire.
Rio, cole
Wade, anyone
Lebron, anyone
Melo, Beas
Bosh, Oden, Bird

They're friends and they could come back full circle to that draft they were part of. Melo and James play really well together in All-Star games and in the Olympics. Playing with Wade and James would most likely prevent Melo from being an inefficient chucker as no team under a prime LBJ has been anything other than highly efficient on offense.

Probably won't happen but if it does, the hate, the saltiness, everybody irate...

Ridiculous star-power aside, I'd support it just so the 2003 Draft Class could be together again. You think Riles would be able to bring Darko out of retirement?

One of the things that make Wade and especially James so great is that with other teams, it might not work and there might be all kinds of problems with guys wanting shots, etc. We saw what happened in LA and BKN this year, that simply teaming up isn't going to mean automatic wins. But with Miami it has been different and if anyone can make it work, it is James leading this group.

if that happens were ARE a dynasty. Guys could take nights off to rest their legs for the playoffs. Pat Riley gets a statue if this happens. We will go down as an all time great team.

If it happens, we'll see a lot more hypocrites come out just like when LeBron and Bosh joined...

they'd have to take less than $14m per (as an average). We have cap holds & would want to keep Cole around ($2m). It works if UD opts out, then LBJ/Melo take $15m each, Bosh $13m, Wade $12m (or some similar combination). But still leaves us with only Big-4, Cole, 1st round pick, Cap Room Exception ($2.5m), vet min (x8).

Cole/Wade/Melo/LBJ/Bosh is a scary starting 5, but the bench would rely on Beas, Oden, Bird, Allen + others taking min. We could add a non-tax payers MLE the following year, but Cole would be due for a new contract, and we'd put ourselves up against the apron as a hard cap, with likely repeater tax ramifications. It's doable, but Riley/Elisburg/Spo have got to convince these guys to leave huge $ on the table to get it done ... is potentially creating a dynasty and writing a NBA folklore that will live up there with the Showtime Lakers, Jordan's Bulls, or any of the Celtics groups enough?

Part of me would like this team to win as many titles as possible and I think Melo could help win them, but part me thinks it would take all the fun and competition out of actually winning them. Call me crazy but watching our last two title runs and seeing them claw to get them and it took every possession, point and rebound to win them. I kinda like earning it that way. We could use that money on resigning players and getting new role players, but I'll trust in the decision the heat choose.

It still wouldn't be a cake walk, pretty sure we'll still be one of the worst rebounding teams, continue to struggle with opposing big men, combine that with being everyone's target, taking their best shots every night like the 2010-2011 season.

But hey I'm all for it, if it helps keeps durant and the pacers at bay a few more years lol.

All throughout these years, I have learned that even a "1% possibility" in Pat Riley's dictionary is NOT the ordinary 1% that you think.

While far-fetched, I wouldn't exactly rule this idea out. And I wouldn't be against it either. Who knows.

I think there is legit smoke with this rumor because the way carmelo has spoken about the big 3 and his friendship with our guys and we will see if it will be some fire in the offseason. but i am betting it will be ... just like 2010 it started with a stupid rumor and then ...

To be honest i posted that idea in the Heat official forum in November when the Knicks hopes for a title was vanished.

It could be a great move to add Melo. LeBron would play more like a safety and i like very much that idea !

Wade, Ray Allen, LeBron, Melo and Bosh OMG

Return to Miami Heat
