Shumpert will look good with chris paul though, Collison should just bring the friggin ball up the court and pass it to the open guy and they'll be good, something Fatboy couldn't do.

Collison is not a good NBA point guard. The following coaches all soured on him trying to run the offense: Carlisle, Vogel, Doc....three pretty solid coaches. Bullock is a nice young player, but giving up Shumpert, arguably your best asset for a very mediocre backup is probably not the best move. Even if it does remove Ray Felton from the team.

The fact that going to Houston would make them perennial contenders isn't enough to assume he'd consider re-signing there over the likes or Sacramento and Toronto?

No **** he's not gonna sign an extension anywhere right now. I'm talking about him being willing to sign a new deal with whatever new team he ends up with.

No. McHale is still the coach and they don't run plays on offense and have massive holes on defense

I suspect unless Rondo is traded to Houston he stays through this deadline. I see NY having the capability of meeting the Celtics asking price but it just won't make sense for them to stretch enough especially when they have a decent chance to sign him in FA and Carmelo doesn't appear to be holding them hostage like Kobe once did to the Lakers. Unless a team like the Heat come calling, Carmelo probably signs with NY even if they suck next year.

Houston may be able to sign him in FA as well but that is missing Rondo for 2 playoffs(2014, 2015) while Dwight is still in his 20's. Title windows are often short and sometimes you just have to go for it and Morey knows that. They are the 3rd seed right now with a nice winning streak the last I checked and arguably with a couple of moves, they could be title favorites. It's a gamble for them but if the Rockets don't make a move, they may be able to get the WCFinals but they probably don't get to the NBA finals.

I did the math on this a while back but it is like 4 years 72 mil as a FA and 5 years 95 mil with his Bird Rights.

LOL right on. Danny need so subscribe to the Red Auerbach #1 RULE of making a trade....it's only a good trade for the Celtics if we get the BEST player back in the deal. Period. You don't trade a Mercedes for 3 Chevys. You just don't. Ainge isn't stupid. He's not trading Rondo unless we get the BEST player in the trade either via the draft(has to be Top 5-6) or from an already established player. Ainge would never do what OKC did by trading Harden for a grab bag of "stuff". That was a dumb trade by OKC and something Red Auerbach would have never done.

I feel like Asik could be flipped to a 3rd team to find a decent first rounder.

If that were possible, HOU would have done it already and probably made it part of the package to BOS. But it's not out there and it could be what ends up stopping this proposed deal. Caveman said as much earlier in the thread and it still rings true.

Feels like we're in a standoff, though. Too many sellers, not enough buyers with ample loot and people are hording 1st round picks like water in a desert.

Danny can be either a buyer or seller so it would stand to reason there's a nice deal out there one way or another.

Hitting refresh on twitter for the next 24 consecutive hours is going to suck.

Can't believe Ainge is actually holding out for Parsons, as if he is worth Rondo.

What if this thing actually happened ? I will be shocked if we only got Parsons and a late 1st.
