Reggie Bullock makes this interesting. Without him or a draft pick, this is another anal assault. Plain and simple.

And I'm sure the Clippers won't be willing to give us anything of value, so let's see how stupid and desperate the Knicks are..

I like Collison but I don't want Barnes or Dudley. Throw in a young guy like Bullock and we have a deal!

Shumpert won't even be in LAC's rotation by the end of the year.

So you guys went from Rondo to Lowry to Asik to Darren Collison :D

So much about having good assets!

Great in college on a loaded team where all he had to do was hit the open three. Was a very active defender with bad foot work.

He could be a good floor spacing 3, but I am not holding my breath that he is going to be amazing. He wasn't the best player on his own team in college.

Right now he is only playing 8 minutes a game and is putting up very pedestrian numbers.

Collision plays garbage without paul

Collision lost his starting job to Hill in Indiana

Collision lost his starting job to Mike James in dallas

Collision never played good defense before he got to Doc

Collision has a player option for next year

Vogel and Carlisle did not like him and now doc wants to get rid of him too

BUYER BEWARE ON THIS ONE

Yeah, I'd rather save Shump for a Rondo deal.

Half the point of the deal would be to gain cap space earlier. First off because Felton. Second, because we'll have to pay Shump in 2015 to keep him.

I really like Shump but the team currently has 2 prospects in this spot. I'd also like to see what the team can do with some financial flexibility around Melo.

It's worth consideration. If a deal like this transpires it will say a lot about the team's confidence in landing a 2015 FA player (Rondo).

This is a panic move, through and through. Has nothing to do with the cap IMO. The Knicks just want to get rid of Felton and sell playoff tickets.

Fact of the matter is that Felton isn't being paid much, and Shump's value is at an all-time low. Make a deal like this next year if all else fails. Give Shump another summer to improve. Hell, give Felton another summer to improve. If the goal is to save money for 2015, next season is the best time to do that. Not right now.

Nothing tells me that shump works hard in offseason to improve parts of is game. He left the summer league early when the knicks wanted him to work on pg skills. He seems more about the NBA lifestyle with his wingman JR smiff. I mean i may be wrong but just my impression. yes i know he was injured all of the previous offseason before this one.

Depends on the deal. I'm telling you, the original deal has everything to do with the cap. Player for player the Clippers win it. But they actually have the opportunity to do something this season.

All you saying we will regret trading that scrub Shumpert, have you all ignored how much worse he keeps getting? At his rate, he'll be out of the league in a year or two. I'd trade this bum for Bullock if we could!

I hate this deadline. Not that I'm even upset we're trying to move Shump, I just hate this deadline.

Clips will love Shump. Doc gonna have that boy playing like a beast. His career will flourish under Doc.

Wouldn't mind a Felton+Shump for Collison+Bullock deal, even though that probably won't happen.... are the salaries/contract lengths beneficially to us? Collison isn't a HUGE upgrade to Felton but he's younger, faster, and is slightly better defender I think. Seems like he can break down the D better, plus being under tutelage from CP3 twice now is always a plus.

Are we really trying to get under the cap though or is 2015 just a fantasy? I mean the last 2 offseasons we signed Felton, Novak, and JR Smith. Then a year later we are trading assets just to get rid of them?

Total waste man and we really don't have a plan. We'll do that deal then trade for Josh Smith or Tyreke Evans a few months later.

They weren't aiming for 2015 _yet_ two offseasons ago. Last year was win now and this year would have been... if they were winning. They likely are exclusively shooting for it now. Probably depends on what deals are available.

The Smith deal was f'n stupid. If they turn around and do something stupid like sign another JSmith then, yeah, you look and say what a bunch of f'n idjuts. But if you see a concerted effort to shed salary then you have to figure that's what's being done.

Shump being advertised as one of the top perimeter defenders in the league now that we're trading him. I mean we all know he is but now they'll admit it smh

Saddest part in all the lateral moves is when

Rondo gets traded to Houston

Love gets traded to LA

Dragic reups on the suns

Return to New York Knicks
