PDX or PHX

Post#1 » by Mich3006 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 2:15 pm

Which team surprises more?
In the offseason, the Blazers were a contender for the 6-8 spot, nobody would be really suprised if they won´t reach the playoffs... After solid aquisitions on the C and especially on bench they look like they´re ready for a deep postseason run, maybe more (doubt it though...)

Everybody predict the Suns will fight with the Sixers for the worst record in the whole league especially after the trade with the Wizards but for now it looks like they reach the playoffs for sure with their uptempo game! Thanks to coach Hornacek and GM McD...

So which team is the biggest surprise so far?!?

I would say Phoenix, just because everyone expected them to be the second-worst team in the league, whereas Portland was a playoff team in some people's eyes.

I actually think the Suns will be a better team with Bledsoe coming back and making an upgrade at center like Pau Gasol. They surely are the more surprising team I did not expect them to gel so quickly for a team that was basically assembled over the summer with seemingly overlapping talents like Bledsoe and Dragic.

Suns. Most (including myself) thought they'd be the worst team in the West.

Phoenix...I thought they'd be bottom feeders. Portland has Lillard and LMA. That is enough to be a treadmill team but they have taken the next step with the rest of the guys.

Even I'll vote Phoenix. As GreenEnvy said, Portland has enough talent to be a playoff team before the season started, they just weren't expected to be a Top 5 team as they are.

Phoenix wasn't even in the conversation as potentially a playoff team. The collection of talent they had going into this season looked like they should be competing with Philly for worst overall record. Kudos to them.

Tip of the cap.

Dragic randomly became a fav player of mine (on the rockets) a few years ago, I followed him to the Suns and have watch 10+ games of their's the past few years. This didn't surprise me much honestly, with the roster improvements I figured they would be pretty good this year.

Still, more surprising than PDX so I voted PHX

People from the area use PDX colloquially too, that's the origin though

Suns. I expected them to be a lottery team, whereas I expected the Blazers to make the playoffs.

Typical NBA of the 2000s. Western teams surprise, eastern teams disappoint.
Everyone underrated Kobe's ego and just thought he would be Paul Pierce when Garnett and Allen joined, instead he went Black Mamba and turned Dwight into Kwame and Nash into Smush.

Def the Suns.

I'm not surprised Portland is doing so well. They were okay last year, but they had no bench at all and now they do.

The Suns are currently playing with a roster that doesn't even have one single top 100 player and only one top 250 player according to ESPN. Let that sink in.

Suns easily. I took the under at 20.5 and I'm a big Bledsoe fan.

Easily the Suns despite the fact I 'd thought they'd be better than last year. I knew Bledsoe would add a lot , and I thought Dragic underperformed last year. But I never figured Plumlee would play like he has nor Green. I thought .500 or a little better.

I am pretty sure zero people expected the suns to be relevant. Surprise indeed!
