There is a Massimo-level lack of perspective in this post. There is no way to tell when and for what he ran just by looking at the number. There is a reason teams privately separate those by offensive and defensive runs.

In addition, Ozil's problem is that even when gets in position to defend, he simply doesn't. He can't press, and he can't defend an area because he doesn't battle physically, so it's vital that he plays exclusively in the middle because the only thing he is capable of doing effectively defensively is cutting off passing angles. He was mind-numbingly poor on the left yesterday. I don't see how the distance he covered is going to combat that argument.

But, we were down to ten men and he still controlled the game at the start, and pushed to counter whenever there was a chance after that.

If you're argument is that he's a **** LB, than I'm with you. But we didn't buy Özil to run around like Scott Parker. You can't blame him for either goal, or the red. He struggled against Bayern Munich, but everyone struggles against Bayern Munich. He did it playing out of position for 55 minutes, paired with our 2nd LB who was at fault for key moments, and did it with 10 men against 11.

That video isn't working for me, take a screen shot or something cause every clip I've seen has shown Özil onside. If anyone is offside it's Mandzukic when he impedes Koscielny for Robbens pen. But, we could do this all day. If you're happy with how that game went, then great.

I tried my best at making a line although it's probably not perfect. Özil's foot is definitely not on level with Boateng's chest, though.

It doesn't matter, though. Some referees don't even give this penalty. I'll stick to that word. Obviously, it was a brainfart by Boateng to go in there but there is no need to fall like that for Özil. If you are giving this penalty you have to give the one from Kos on Müller in 2nd half as well. A player that wants to stay on the ground does stay on the ground in this situation.

After all the game is called football not basketball. It's supposed to be a sport you can use your body in. Not every contact in the penalty area is supposed to be a penalty. Makes me sick as a defender seeing Özil fall like he was hit by a tank after slight contact and then directly looking at the ref "give me the penalty".

This is also a huge reason why I'm sick of watching him for Germany. Although, Müller isn't better either.

What are you talking about? At no point last night was Ozil asked to be a left back, and at no point during this discussion have i judged him as a left back. A left midfielder has defensive responsibilities too. Especially if his team is down to ten men and the opponent is going out of its way to overload and overlap in his area.

He was playing essentially as a second LB, at best a wing-back. Down to 10 men against Munich for 55 minutes we were unlucky to concede two goals. Especially since they were clearly targeting Ozil and our more culpable Monreal. That's not that bad a result defensively, considering what they've done to other teams.

Wenger spoke to ZDF reporters in German and he said they should've been up 3-0 after 15 minutes. At least that's what I understood with his whispering voice.

Probably he meant that they should've taken one of those chances, yeah. But he certainly didn't say that in German or I understood him wrong.

Arsenal had to go into a knockout stage game with a striker that has started on like 3 soccer games in his professional career. He didn't do that bad but still kinda a head scratcher that they didn't buy a striker in the winter window at latest.

I found it hilarious watching him yesterday. The bayern team had no clue about him and he was terrorizing them. Looked like it was the first time in months alaba-Dante-boateng had to play defence.
Only have arsenal to blame because we coulda destroyed them those first few minutes. I hope we come out like that in most games now to end the season especially city/Chelsea.
