I'd like to send out Webster in a deal for Deng. Unfortunately, I don't see how a trade works for Deng with Webster + trash.

Yeah not sure I believe the seriousness of any Deng talks. Salaries don't work.

Plus Deng doesn't shoot threes.

Why would we want Deng? He's washed up and on his final year of his contract.

And Deng can't be traded with another CLE player. So it has to be for him and only him.

And trading Ariza for him would be such an odd move at this point

Webster, Vesely, Seraphin and Singleton for Deng would work. It would push the Wizards a shade into the luxury tax, though. Could add in Harrington to fix that.

Four for one means the Cavs would have to include players or cut players or get a third team involved. I don't know about that. And we'd probably have to go and sign some players. Plus pay tax. Eh...

Seems like a lot just to get out of Martell's contract.

It would be a significant upgrade for a playoff run though, which is Ernies only focus of course

leaves us completely without a backup center though

I am still trying to understand our glut of SF's and drafting selection, especially considering the current Deng rumors now.

Not really. The teams can structure the trade to include other players -- they just have to be structured as simultaneous, parallel deals, not part of the Deng trade.

As dumb as it sounds the Wizards need to hang on to Seraphin. They can't go with only 3 legit big men (Nene, Gortat, Booker). Maynor would need to go instead of Seraphin.

No, the Wizards don't need Seraphin. They can get by with Gortat, Nenê and Booker. Plus Deng and Ariza, who can both play SF and PF. Plus, they'd have some roster spots, so they could sign a free agent body or make another deal for a big.

I'm tired of seeing other teams make trades for decent players for literally nothing, such as the Cavaliers, why can't we do that?

No they don't. Sign a vet big for the minimum. It would probably be an upgrade over Seraphin.

Not really. The teams can structure the trade to include other players -- they just have to be structured as simultaneous, parallel deals, not part of the Deng trade.

But the trades would have to be made separately with the salaries working for each separate trade--not for the total salaries, correct?

It gets extremely complicated. The deals don't have to be structured the same in both directions. Each team can structure the transactions in whatever way is most advantageous to them. So...I don't know. :D

There does have to be a part of the deal where it is for Deng. I don't see a realistic one that doesn't include Ariza and filler or Nene.

One interesting thing about Deng's contract is it is just too small to be traded for Gasol.

Deng for Nene?

Salaries are close...throw in one of Ernie's kinds to balance it out and you have a deal w/o moving TA
