Clippers having a Career Fair in March

Post#1 » by strikefirefall » Thu Feb 20, 2014 2:43 pm

Think it's worth going to? I have a bachelors degree in psychology, but I started out in sports management. I played basketball in high school and a for a little in college. I also helped recruit for my college and volunteered as an assistant for an AAU team for a little.

I just wanted to know if anyone here had been to one of their fairs and if it's worth paying to get into.

I have 3 friends who are ball boys (technically called player's assistants.) I'll go just to get that job. Still can't believe they won't hook me up though.

Do they get paid decent money? And do the only work home games, not practices? I'd take any job that offered advancement.

How it works is that at first it's sort of a volunteer thing and how you make money is that each game you get a couple of tickets to sell. Then you get upgraded to a payed position and that's probably around minimum wage. One of my friends actually helped out with the prospect workouts last year during the draft period so I assume they must sometimes help at practices. At games they sit court side and hand out towels.

I had always thought that the people who picked up the towels, jerseys, and gave out water were high school kids.

Lol they were when they started out. I'm 20 right now, graduated in '11 and they all started in 10th grade. So that would make them like 15-16 when they started. One guy was doing it since middle school I think.

I just didn't think they'd allow anyone other than high school kids to do that.

Do you really have to pay? The jobs will probably be the desk jobs we see in a video now and then

EDIT: Just read that the fee covers going to the Warriors game after.

Yeah I forgot to mention that the price to get into the fair includes a ticket. I just got a new job and I get my schedule tomorrow, so if I'm free that day, I plan to go.

How is a job fair ok for a 15 year old and terrible for an adult?

He never said that's the job they're holding a career fair for. He just mentioned that he had friends who did that for the Clippers.

the way you are defending the "job fair", you are already interested in it. then why ask? just do pay for that "Warriors" game and seek out your job. good luck.

Obviously I'm interested in it. I came here to see if anyone else had been to one before or knew more about it like I stated in the first post of the thread.

I wasn't defending anything. I was merely correcting you.
