I'm so tired of this franchise being so f'ing cheap. The asking price on jameer nelson was the exact same thing, and his expiring would have been a damn good trade chip next season.

I don't even. I'm lost for words right now.

Okay, so it's 1 2nd round pick, not 2. I still wish we didn't have to give that asset up.

Ariza over deng this season...
ariza has something to prove he's been lights out from the 3 this month and he's known as a playoff player...please don't **** up the chemistry to add deng...i kno he's better but right now ariza is the better fit...not to mention he's been our most consistent player

I'm ok with the deal. I know it's not popular to say it but we desperately needed a backup point guard. Now we can move Temple to the backup 2 and Webster to backup 3. That will strengthen the bench. The guy hasn't played since Dec. so I'm worried about how long it's going to take him to get in game shape.

Ernie trades for Gortat, Marshall, Brown.

WAIVES the (young, potentially talented) Marshall in favor of Erniez Kidz and Maynor.

Ernie THEN trades Ves, Maynor, 2nd for the (old, broken, expensive) Andre Miller, WHILE STILL PAYING KENDALL MARSHALL.

The mind boggles.

Problem: No Maynor]

EDITED TO ADD: I do NOT mean that Maynor being gone is a problem. Just to be clear about that one thing.

Yea I see he's gone too...but if we do trade ariza to the cavs we better get back Bennet or zeller...both I think will become quality bigs...

$5 million this year.

$4.6 mil next season, but $2 mil is only guaranteed if he's cut before June 30, 2014 or two days before the draft. I would venture to say he'll be brought back.

So potentially it's a salary neutral deal. That's good, except we'll likely bring Miller back next year.

To me the elephant in the room, that no one is talking about is that Miller & Wall really can't play together. Miller's shot is even more broke than Wall's. Teams would just pack the paint and dare us to shoot jumpers.

Miller also doesn't play defense. Well, he can't play defense. It's about as bad as Maynor's was. So IMO it's not really a problem solving trade. It just changes the problems. From having a backup PG that couldn't run the offense but could defend to a backup PG that can run the offense but can't defend a lick.

If we were going to keep him, you'd be right. But what he gives us is 15-20 minute/night of much better play than we're getting right now, and that's good enough for Ernie.

Wizards are toast. We have no future as currently constructed. Time for a new GM who will start trying to trade Wall to give us what we need to start over -- and that will be the right move too. Ruination....

It's the Pelicans' 2nd rounder in 2015. I'd rather have them traded this year's and next year's 2nd. Anything but the Pelicans 2nd rounder. AWFUL.

I have come to not care about second rounders since Ernie never gets anything out of them. At this point, it's like trading two Eric Maynors.

As far as I know, there's no protection on the pick. The pick this year, if everything stayed the same would be around 39th-40th. That would suggest a rotational player. New Orleans could be better next year, they could be worse, they probably won't make the playoffs which will guarantee it being in the top half of the 2nd round.

It's an extremely valuable pick.
