a cheap veteran big. interesting to see if he drops cunningham and sign martin for the remainder

personally, I'm glad we did something and seems like we didn't lose any assets but I may be wrong

Of course I didn't see that coming, Some thought it would be Kaman, did Ferry call the wrong office? lol

I haven't seen him in a while, I suppose he can help at center.

Should have just signed him to a vet contract last summer....

He'll help. But he's not a Center.

Looks like we're trying to tank though the back door. As if we think that, if we pretend we're working towards the playoffs, the players will believe and not give up.

I see this as making a move for the sake of making a move. I think we need wing scoring and/or rebounding from the 5 position. If we are not getting one of those two things we should have done nothing.

this move isn't gonna do much for us imo. I'm very much for the backdoor tank.

Our GM sure knows how to make a splash at the trade deadline....

I wonder if we'll do like last year and cut the trade acquisition after a few weeks.

Does anyone even go to these press conferences? C-Viv, Schultz and a few local bloggers make up the ATL sports press corps? I sure hope someone has the chutzpah to ask DF the hard questions. i.e. what the h3ll are you doing?

Per Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, here are the trade details for Clippers Hawks:

Clippers get: Draft rights to Cenk Akoyl (2005 draft pick)
Hawks get: Antawn Jamison + cash.

http://fullyclips.com/2014/02/20/report-clippers-traded-antawn-jamison-hawks/

the Clippers signed Antawn Jamison hoping he could slide into the roll Odom played last year, with his offense being the strong suite, and be a viable option off the bench. That hasn’t happened as the 15 years veteran forward has appeared in just one game since January 10th, losing his spot in the rotation to Hedo Turkoglu.

On the season Jamison is averaging 3.8 points on 31 percent shooting and 2.5 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game, all of which are career lows.

He is probably going to be waived. Some D-League big will be signed until Antic and Ayon get back, then D-Leaguer gets cut.

I know that doesn't exciting, but thats probably the case.

I'd have preferred a trade for Austin Daye but since SAS sent something De Colo in return, I don't know what Ferry could offer.
It wouldn't have changed anything compared to Jamison regarding our future record, but we could have tried a young player who made some good games with DET, instead of getting a old one.

Then why even make the trade? Aykol wasn't costing us anything? If we waive Antawn, we still have to pay the remainder of his salary this season.

Getting rid of him benefits us in no way. In fact it is to our detriment as we could have packaged the draft rights to Cenk Aykol in another deal...

Yeah, Cartier was out of options with us. We either had to sign him for the season or let him go at this point. Our roster, though, is super thin right now. Probably means we're keeping Jamison through the season.

I really hope this means we bring Cunningham back and just see what the kid can do. Martin gone, JJ2 gone, Lou struggling, Teague struggling...at this point what do we have to lose in letting our young players actually get some meaningful game time.

I see the trade as a positive move. It continues with the concept of "evolving culture". Antawn is a worker with specific skills and veteran that has always been a great locker room guy (community too). Another vet young guys can learn from. He also will rotate between the 3 and 4, provide shooting and rebounding.

By the way, after last nights game I no longer have thoughts of Jeff Green. I am very very happy with Milsap, I also believe his future here is a 3/4 guy verses a 4/3 guy.
I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

We have to lose the game because Cunningham is legitimately a bad basketball player. If that guy gets on the court, I know we are tanking. I would rather resign Nunnally to another 10 day. Like seriously...Cunningham just plain sucks dude.

Can't say I care about this deal one way or the other. I agree with those who think we could get someone out of the D-League and do just as well. Only difference is that we wouldn't have gotten the salary to pay him like we did w/ Jamison. Don't care about who we lost; don't care about who we gained either.

In no way is Cunningham a bad player. Just needs floor time to grow. We knew what he was when we got him. We have to give him time like schroder. I might post here more because hawksquawk is on my nerves with the tanking crap.

I don't know if these things are true. I only saw JC play very sparingly. Time will tell. I just think if we're paying the kid, and we're going nowhere, what does it hurt for Schroder and Cunningham to get some extended on court action? How does someone completely suck at basketball, but is graded as a first round talent by scouts? Does he really have 0 skills that could be of use to us?

If Cunningham goes, works on his craft, and has a career resurrection akin to Danny Green...I'm going to be disappointed.

I'm also adding the above to RIP's prediction list.

Cunningham is currently DF's worse acquisition. We've wasted over a million dollars on a kid who can't play well enough to stay off the D-League bus.

And now we know Martin is a keeper and Jamison was simply a waste of everyone following the trade deadline.
I guess it looks better than showing nothing was done.

I've followed my last trade deadline...

My question, did we just essentially do LAC a favor by taking Jamison off their hands?

There was no tangible benefit to us. Only LAC got anything from the trade. Am I mistaken?
