Oh yeah. Tom Gores.

This is likely true.
I could certainly evision Dumars having sat down with Gores (on Skype or whatever) and his Platinum Equity underlings, and laying out the options for Gordon:

- Keep him and pay him
- Amnesty him, pay him, but free up the cap space
- Charlotte has offerred Magette for him, but we'd have to give them a first rounder as well. That means we don't pay him, and we free up the cap space.

Which one?

Did Dumars hold the power there?
Was it a democratic vote - did Dumars not want to make that trade yet get out voted?
Did Gores hold all the power?

I'm not going to apologize for Dumars. He's obviously at fault...but I continue to wonder: How much really is his fault? How does it really work behind the Tom Gores curtain? Is that why Dumars is still here? Is this team where it is more because of Gores and his Platinum Equity underlings?

Will we ever know?

I don't know, or care. This guy comes across like all he cares about is profits. Maybe I'm reaching, but I think a blue-collar franchise with the history that it has deserves better. Don't get me wrong...I know that the goal of every business is to make profits, but profits and success go hand in hand in the NBA. If we were more patient instead of going out and signing Josh Smith, things may have turned out better. Instead, we put together a team that doesn't fit lead by 2 infamous chuckers just so that we could potentially sneak into the playoffs.

And we probably won't even get there.

I'm not comfortable with him at all. I truly hope he sells the team to someone who actually lives in Michigan and cares about the team more than he appears to.
