Lakers and Celtics will get #1-3 book it

God willing we can sneak into the 8th spot, knowing our team we will be sitting pretty at 9th or 10th pick with stupid wins at the end of our season

Gores isn't stupid. Once we get 4-5 games out of the hunt, he's going to realize we're not making the playoffs. He'll shut down the team.

Doubt it, he "wants to win at all costs". He'll be in denial as to how bad we are we'll have our annual meaningless winning streak in April.

Gores has no idea about what it takes to create a winning team.

Otherwise he would have amnestied Charlie V or Gordon instead of paying them to do nothing or lose a pick to get rid of them.

Lakers or Celtics will "somehow" get the top couple picks.

Either:

1) Gores hasn't gotten his "Thanks for buying an NBA franchise" gift yet. This is the year we'll get it.

or

2) We'll finish 8th, then Nick Gilbert's dumb bow tie will pull a top 3 pick out of nowhere and send us down to 9th.

We've been leap frogged on the regular.

I think Washington has jumped us 2-3 times the last few years.

With what? Trinkets like Singler, KCP or seconds won't do it. Other teams aren't dumb, and they understand where the drop-offs are in terms of value. Are you willing to give up Monroe? And even he might not get you in the top three.

Dumars has done plenty wrong, but he's been outstanding in the draft the past few years.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Pretty sure he meant this is the year the balls actually come up in our favor....

Meh.

Unless you think we're going to magically get better next year I don't see why losing our pick this year is preferable to losing it next year. We run the risk of losing an even better pick next year.

We're in the 10 spot at the moment and showing no signs of deliberately tanking. I'd be pretty surprised if we move into that 8 range. Cleveland could pass us, but New York is in the midst of another down turn and nobody else below us is showing much life.

Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington all won tonight. We're now 3.5 games out of the 8th seed (which is really 4.5 because Atlanta has the tie-breaker currently).

Playoffs not looking so good tonight as they were last night. Terribly tough schedule coming up too. It might be tank city coming up here in the next week or so. If they don't win these next couple games (and its not likely being GSW, SAS, and HOU are the opponents) they could be like 6-7 games out of even getting an 8th seed. If that happens, we could see them just mail in the rest of the year.

They've mailed in so many meaningful games this year, I can't imagine they will put too much effort into games that don't count at all if they are 7 games out of the playoffs.

All aboard...
