Okafor wasn't traded...really odd.
I wonder what it would take to get him back here. It would make a Gortat extension sting slightly less.

I'm actually really sad that Phoenix didn't get Gasol. What are the Lakers doing?
I'm not saying they'd win the championship with Gasol, but damn wouldn't they have been a nightmare for everyone out west with Gasol and Bledsoe come playoff time?
Serious question...are the Suns this good if they still had Gortat?
I don't think it's even a debate that they'd be worse becasue Plumlee is a strong athletic defender.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXVII
I'd give serious consideration to re-signing Ariza and trading Webster for Ilyasova. Milwaukee has three second round picks; they may consider including one (not there's) to make up for the salary delta.
Gortat, Nene, Ilyasova, Ariza, Porter, Beal, Wall, Miller, MLE, 2 2nds is a pretty decent team.

^I'd be worried about a Gortat/Ersan frontcourt defensively, but we'd certainly be more balanced. Although I'm not sure they'd use the MLE after re-signing BOTH Gortat and Ariza, especially since Ersan's deal is also bigger than Webster's.

We got a second rounder from Philly?

Theoretically if we pick up the option on Miller and exceed the cap to re-sign Ariza and Gortat using Bird rights, can we use Martell in a S&T?

Yes.

Where did you see that? It might be one of those "imaginary" 2nd rounders that are included just because a team needs to give up something in a trade.

There were lots of viable trades.
Hell, Hawes was just had for two 2nd round picks and Earl Clark.
If you were going to trade Ves, why not get Hawes in return ?
Can't say I am very impressed with what they just did given what other teams did and other options that seems very doable to the Wizards.
Plus the roster still has a glut of players who are huge questions. Singleton, Rice, Otto, AH
Ves was not a question. I know he could contribute in a meaningful way and in a position of need.

Witt gonna Witt doe
That was what I thought they would start or with Nene in there.
Also it helps in another way. Webster is better ball handler then TA. I know that might not be saying much he is does help. And TA is a good rebounder.
But like you said, Wittman. He keeps telling us how the tell doesn't have top level horse to ride and how they need to share the ball and do it all together, yet he wants a tight rotation like the team is build like they do have that player. This team was always better in my book by player more players, not less.
But here is my tweak to your line ups. Specially since Wall and Beal rarely do well on the same night.
Wall
GRJ/Temple ( defensive SG like a DS type )
Webster
Ariza/Booker
Gortat
Miller
Beal
Porter
Kevin/Booker
Nene
But it won't happen that way. They will look to find 20-25 min for Miller. He is going to play more then back up PG for 12 mins a game.

Ridiculous. You don't start Garrett freaking Temple over Beal. These are human beings Wittman is dealing with, not chess pieces. Benching Beal for an obviously inferior player is not going to be good for Beal's development nor for the team's success.

I agree, replacing Beal with Temple would be awful.. but I do like Dark Faze idea of starting Ariza at the 4 and Webster at the 3. Gortats defense hasn't been great so the added offense and floor spacing of Webster seems like something worth trying.

I seen it on comcast they show Philly giving us a protected second rounder.

Not sure if they made a mistake or not.

I wouldn't start that lineup, but I'd use it during games. The problem is we rarely if ever go to small ball during the course of a game unless we're down 3 with 10 seconds to go.

For the sake of argument, If one assumes Ariza wants to play elsewhere next season, does that mean we lose him and get nothing in return or is there a good chance we can do a sign and trade?

Sure, it's a real possibility IMO. Most seem to think he'll command more than the MLE, so all it takes to get it started is a team that can only offer the MLE to really want Ariza. Assuming it's a team that he wants to go to, they'll have to work something out.

Yep, Randy seems to have a problem going small... which is ridiculous (in my mind), since Ariza rebounds better than all of our PFs
And no, we suffer through with Beal as the starter - this is a growth season for him. Hopefully he makes a huge jump next year or we are screwed...

And this is the guy who rags on Whitman for making poor rotations.
