2 open rosters spots, do we fill them?

D-League

Devin Ebanks
Willie Reed

Free Agents:

Cartier Martin - touch player, can play both forward spots
Ivan Johnson - another tough defending bigman

Potential buyouts/amnesties

???

Other:

Jason Collins - could see the nets giving him a roster spot. especially with an NFL player recently coming out it could put the NBA in similar light again. I know they wanted to in the offseason byt didnt have the roster spot. far fetched but wouldnt completely rule it out

Adonis Thomas might be worth a look. Lots of reports that he's been killing it in the D leagues.

Can guard multiple positions which fits in perfectly with our long ball line up. I'd give Thomas and Reed an opportunity with 10 day deals as well but Thomas seems to have more upside due to his age and having not getting a look in the NBA as yet.

Teams have had Reed and not kept him so even though he could work out, I'd prefer to get a look at Thomas.

I feel like adding Glen Davis would help us immensely. It's interesting to note that players who don't perform on lesser quality teams perform much more efficiently when the right players around them. Glen would be a lot more effective around KG, Pierce, D Will, Joe, S Liv, and Kirilenko. Although he is not a superstar, I do believe adding players like Glen and Marcus Thornton is a difference maker, why you ask? Answer is simple, the more depth a team has, and the Nets are scary deep, the more dangerous the team becomes and more difficult to handle in the playoffs. Envision Toronto's mindset right now as the 3 seed vs the 6 seed Nets. As good as Toronto has played, I still don't think they take the Nets in a 7 game series.

Earl Clark is intriguing but he did suck this year, and I don't know if he would play well at PF.

Rotations are shortened in the play-offs, not sure where this narrative that depth is any more valuable in the post season than in the regular season.
Depth is more important in the regular season when you play back to backs and multiple games per weeks when that depth can spell your best players more minutes on the bench and rest by the way of DNP's and such.
Your best players play the most minutes in the play-offs, a Marcus Thorton or Glen Davis doesn't add much unless they play well above their expected levels in the play offs.

Depth doesnt really matter in the playoffs outside of injury protection as teams usually shorter their rotation to 7 or 8 guys. even the deeper teams usualyl dont run out more then 8 guys.

I think Toronto would LOVE to see the nets in the first round, they are 2-1 against us and their best player has clowned out best player at every turn

I'm the biggest King hater but Clark isn't improving anybody. He had a 15 minutes of fame run in LA. Davis easily is a better addition than Clark.

Knicks working on buyout of Beno Udrih. Lets bring in him and Davis and call it a day.

Udrih would be a nice 3rd point guard, a guy who can handle the ball off the bench.

clumsy mistakes in clutch situations arent a good thing.... and you can just as easily say the raptors lost there game because of a missed wide open shot.

i dont know how you can say they arent better. they are like 4 games up on us and beat us 2 of 3 head to head and matchup wise lowry has destroyed williams.

depth doesnt matter at all in the playoffs unless their is an injury. and if anything teams give us matchup problems because we have no size at the 4 no matter who we send out there.
