What pick did you get and how do you rebuild the team over the next two seasons?
Interested to see what people come up with.

Does anyone know if our draft pick will put a cap hold on us going into free agency?

Re: Play the Lottery, Play the Rebuild!
51. Are draft picks included in team salary? If so, for how much?
Unsigned first round picks are included in team salary immediately upon their selection in the draft. They count as 100% of the scale salary for that pick, unless there is a verbal agreement for a higher salary. An incident occurred in 1997 when Vancouver selected Antonio Daniels with their first pick, and Daniels subsequently revealed in an interview that he and the team had verbally agreed to a contract starting at the maximum allowed salary (120% of the scale amount). Since verbal agreements apply to team salary, the league then changed Daniels' cap figure from the scale amount to 120% of scale.
Once a first round pick signs a contract, his actual salary is included in the team salary, of course.
An unsigned first round pick is removed from team salary if the team and player both agree in writing not to sign any contract through the following June 30. The scale amount is returned to the team salary the following July 1. If the team renounces its draft rights, the player's scale amount is removed from the team salary permanently, and the team relinquishes its draft rights to the player (see question number 53).
If a first round pick signs with a non-NBA team, his scale amount is excluded from the team salary on the date he signs his non-NBA contract or the first day of the regular season, whichever is later. The scale amount goes back onto the team salary on the following July 1 or when his non-NBA contract ends, whichever is earlier. In other words, these cap holds are removed for players playing outside the NBA, but only during the regular season.
Unsigned second round picks are not included in team salary. This is a loophole teams sometimes leverage by trading late first round picks for second round picks in order to clear cap room. Teams also sometimes trade first round picks for cash for the same reason.
As described in question number 86, the trade value of an unsigned first or second round draft pick is always $0.

Keep the wins low but not blow outs if possible.
I like how Philly is trying to be the #2 lowest record.
I don't like the lakers competing for the 3rd, 4th 5th & 6th spot.
Just tank and go for the best pick.
Play hard but not enough to beat Portland, come on.
Bazemore was a good pick-up but save him for next year.

Yeah, the 50-point blowouts are unacceptable. Lose, but not that bad.

Re: Play the Lottery, Play the Rebuild!
I don't think they were trying to lose. I think the Clippers just wanted to hammer us as bad as possible to claim they are the team in LA now. Doc made sure of that by playing his starters as much as he could to make that statement. But reality is and always will be LA belongs to the Lakers and Clippers are just renting the building from us. Nothing more than that. Their LA fans are our left over bandwagon fans. Doesn't bother me one bit.

My first time playing it:
1. Wiggins/Grizzlies
7. Saric/Lakers
Second time
1. Embiid/Celtics
2. Wiggins/T-wolves
6. Gordon/Lakers
I'm never playing that again.

Re: Play the Lottery, Play the Rebuild!
I had to do it like 20 times to get first ugh...
first try though I got 3rd/ Parker
Most common by far was 6th/ Gordon
Which personally I'm happy with, some here question him but I think Gordon is going to be a great player.

Since the league screwed us with the CP3 trade we deserve a break! We need a top 4 pick. Twice in a row I landed at 5 with Julius Randle. Not bad.

I mean, if you look at the odds by itself
70% chance Lakers do not get a top 3 pick.
36% chance the Lakers get the 6th pick
44.8% chance the Lakers get a pick 6th-8th (can't do worse than 8th right now)

Re: Play the Lottery, Play the Rebuild!
Now would be a good time to shut Gasol down with a sprained big toe or something. We can't be catching Philly or Milwaukee but we should atleast try to finish below Boston and close to Orlando.

Exactly!
Secure the 2nd or 3rd worst record.
There is no need to win any more games this season if the goal is to
get the highest draft pick possible.
Stick to the Goal.
Lakers 21-40
Utah 21-40
New Y 22-40
Boston 20-41
Sacram 22-39
Orlando 19-44
There is a competiton amoung these teams. The newer or young players and free agents to be want wins
to make them feel good and for them to get a spot next year.
However Management should tell the top players they can chill and work to the Goal
and be confident that we know you have the skills but want to stick to the Goal.
Embiid, Parker, Smart Wiggins.
A few extra wins ahead of the teams can land less Lotto balls and might be
the difference between one of these four players and a players who
might be in the 2nd tier of players that is not a Franchise player who
brings in tickets and draws big crowds and sell Jerseys, shoes, makes commercials
and lots $ for the Lakers.
Keep to the Goal and pray for the best lotto landing.

Someone needs to go and get a bat across Gasols knee. you know take one for the team.
Where's ima when you need him.
