Torino 3 - 1 Verona...the two surprises of the season.
Immobile and Cerci are so fun to watch for Torino. El Kaddouri had a great game today also: 2assists, 1 goal. Luca Toni scored a pk and saw a couple of his headers blocked.

the fight for the final europa league spot that nobody actually wants is heating up...
top ten:

Juventus.....63
Roma..........54**
Napoli.........50
Fiorentina...44
Inter..........39
Parma.........36**
Torino........36
Verona........36
Milan..........32
Lazio...........32
**one game in hand

If Balotelli is really going to take matters into his own hands then Milan should absolutely finish top 6. Otherwise it is Torino's to lose

Are they planning to build new stadiums in Italy any time soon? I'm watching Bologna and Roma warm up right now and this is just pathetic.

yea it is pathetic, and they are planning on it, but it'll be 3-5 years probably. I think Inter may be the next to get their own stadium

Cuadrado = BEAST. He keeps getting better and better.
Considering the hype other players in different leagues have, may be the best kept "secret" there is right now

Yes he is. The dude is so talented, but he doesn't get hype because he is not in a big club and Serie A is no longer hyped like it used to. I heard he scored a golazo against Parma, too bad I couldn't see it lol. We will need his goal scoring to increase to make up for Falcao's absense, If he keeps scoring like this, he will be a world class player.

the goal was nothing compared to his recent one in Coppa Italia, but he had an amazing game nonetheless. I've liked him since Lecce but he has easily become one of my favorite players. so fun to watch. It's funny because when they were both on Lecce, my money would have been on Muriel to be more of a star at this point in time

starting XI for Italy-Spain friendly tomorrow:
Buffon;
Maggio, Paletta, Barzagli, Criscito;
Marchisio, Thiago Motta, Montolivo;
Candreva, Osvaldo, Cerci

good to see Criscito back. him, Thiago Motta, Sirigu, Verratti, and Giaccherini are the non Serie A players.
Immobile, Paletta, and Perin all received their first call up

Gervinho had a fantastic move to put him in front of goal but Reina made the save.

Can't help but feel a little proud watching Callejon and Higuain combine so well. Didn't hit the back of the net but that was a beautiful combination there.

feel really bad for Strootman, he was having an amazing season for us and now he has ruptured his ACL AND torn his meniscus. not only is he out for the season but he will also miss the world cup. hopefully he can recover from this injury and continue improving like he was. would be really sad if this in any way effected his career or development, as hes still pretty young.

yea what a bummer :(

Although it may not be the case for him, with the severity of his injury I think the discussion of players not getting enough rest inevitably has to come into play.
Strootman led the Netherlands youth team to the Euro semi finals this past summer. We assume young players will be able to handle the workload, but it's too difficult to be playing all year without a whole summer off. France's coach Deschamps has been complaining that Pogba is playing too much for someone who is expected to star at this year's World Cup, seeing as he played in every game of last summer's U20 World Cup (where he won the tournament and MVP award)...and he has featured in vast majority of Juve's games in league, cup, and Europe.
It is a shame when squads are do not have their best players in a World Cup due to injury, but I guess it happens all the time.

I would like to take this time to LOL at Milan. The signing of Adil Rami will end up being the only good thing that they've done in since getting Balotelli.

Milan opting for Seedorf as coach seems silly...I optimistically waited a few weeks to say this.
With a goal of making Europe, and with the group of players they have, an inexperienced coach is the last thing they need. Seems an obvious PR move (just like the re-signing of Kaka'). It goes without saying but Berlusconi/Galliani at this point in time are destroying the team they once made they best in Europe.

they are 8 points behind 6th placed Parma. They play Parma this weekend -- I'm hoping Cassano will style on them---but I will feel bad for Seedorf who got thrown into this mess only to be told [supposedly] today that if he doesn't finish top 6 he will be sacked.

I am not the only one wondering wtf Milan is doing. their own fans are set to stage a protest:
http://football-italia.net/46465/milan- ... an-protest
Milan Ultras on the Curva Sud will hold a pre-match protest against Adriano Galliani and some of their own players on Sunday.
The Rossoneri have been heavily criticised since their Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid and it seems many fans have had enough.

“As a result of yet another disappointment resulting from this troubled season, and having already mentioned a protest in December, now we have decided that we have run out of patience,” a statement on the Curva Sud website reads.

“We have identified those who, in the opinion of our fans, are the key figures who have led our Milan into this bad situation.”

One of these figures is Galliani, who they hold responsible for the club’s recent transfer activities.

“We wonder, for example, how it was possible to send away Ambrosini, who as well as being the captain was a strong voice in the dressing room,” the statement continues.

“Even more we wonder how it was possible to release Pirlo and not to grant him a three-year contract on his terms.

“Today the results of this policy are the horrible sight before us.

“Milan are 37 points off the top of the league and out of everything.”

Milan’s players will not get an easy ride either.

“We come now to the team, made up of a few serious professionals but surrounded by a host of useless overpaid players.

“Their first thought is to put idiotic photos on social networks or to book a table for a lovely night at the disco.

“We wish they would follow the example of real professionals like Montolivo , Bonera , Abbiati , Kaka , Abbot, De Sciglio , De Jong , Poli and Pazzini to name a few.

“We hope that the boss Seedorf takes serious action against such actions as there is no longer a place for them.”

juve are going to win the scudetto and have a nice team going forward with legit young stars.

milan wont be in the champions league or likely any European competition next season and are completely lost. if balotelli leaves then they are seriously fuked.

juve definitely get the last laugh, milan is about to be irrelevant unless things change quickly.

Milan will return into relevancy after Silvio sells the club.

There are definitely billionaires out there willing to take over Milan, it's just a matter of when Silvio calls it quits.
Unfortunately, Milan is pretty much the only thing Silvio has left, so I don't see this happening "easily".

All in all, as a Milan fan, I've seen both good and bad times, there will be good times, gotta see these 3-4 years through.

Pretty much. Serie A is as much of a one horse race as the Bundesliga is these days.

Juve might not win every game like Bayern but they'll win the Scudetto for the third straight time and there is little hope that Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina can challenge them next year.
Roma playing their best season in ages are 14 points behind Juve.

It's gonna take another two or three years until Inter is ready to compete with Juve. By then, Juve will have the 5-peat completed for sure.

Roma need to keep their young stars instead of selling to continue to improve. Pjanic needs to improve and not be satisfied, he has world class potential. Can't let go of guys like lamela if they want to stay competitive. The stadium will be a huge, huge step forward.
