Tank Nation...the tank for a top 2 pick

Post#1 » by Echelon_Desi » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:03 am

Tank Standings as of 2/22/14:

1.Milwaukee 10-45
2.Philadelphia 15-41
3.Orlando 17-40
4.Boston 19-38
5.Sacramento 19-36
6.LA Lakers 19-36
7.Utah 19-36
8.New York 21-35
9.Cleveland 22-34
10.Detroit 22-33
11.New Orleans 22-32
12.Denver 25-29

** - It will be tough for us and New York to catch up with Milwaukee or Philly...outside shot at Orlando (though does not seem likely)

**** - Boston, Sacramento, LA Lakers and Utah need to get their act together and start winning.

Lets get a top 2 pick baby, preferably no. 1 in the 2014 draft !! :D

TBH a top 6 pick will get you a potential superstar.

True, but top 2 pick will get us selection at the 'potential superstar'. We can at least evaluate the top 6-7 prospects through work outs with that top 2 pick

Top 2 is a dream. I'm happy with a top 8 pick.

New York Knicks are only 2.5 games back of Boston for 4th worst record with 25 games left...not impossible but challenging.

The Knicks have some losses coming up this week against Dallas, Miami and Golden State.

They should be 21-38 by next Sunday.

Actually I am tempted to lock this thread on principle. I have yet to meet anybody that was a fan of the Nuggets from 1990-2002 that is happy about this situation. It is only through injuries, and the incompetence of Shaw and Connolly that we are in this situation, which is not something to celebrate considering this was a 57 win team last year.

assuming everybody is ready and out of injuries next season, with the addition of our picks, we should be really be in a good position to succeed. really excited for next season.

i've watched the fewest nuggets games this season since probably 2006.

This thread is a celebration of a potential top 5, hopefully top 2 pick in the 2014 draft.

The current state of the team is quite dismal. With Gallo and a few others coming back from injury next year, along with the 2014 1st -- we should be in a good position for the 2014-2015 season

i'm not a tank advocate, but our options are very limited at this point. we have yet to see a fully healthy nuggets squad this season, and we wont, and there's no use pouting about it. the front office hasn't been up to the standards that ujiri set, but aside from trading away koufos for arthur there were very limited options available during this past off-season. the expectation was that gallo was going to return mid-season and we would have been back to our game. nobody could have expected gallo to take the second surgery, mcgee to be out, ty to be out mid season.

right now we're the 5th youngest team in probably the worst possible position where our three best players are injured, in a lost season, with an opportunity to add great talent in one of the better drafts since 2003. i'm fairly optimistic that we can successfully bounce back.

I would not mind a BLOCKBUSTER draft day trade of Lawson/Chandler, Faried/McGee and maybe Denver's 2015/2016 1st for another 2014 1st (top 10).

PG - Exum / Fournier
SG - Wiggins / Fournier
SF - Gallinari / Chandler
PF - Hickson/Arthur / free agent
C - Mozgov / Mcgee

or

PG - Exum / Aaron Brooks
SG - Fournier / Foye
SF - Gallinari / Chandler
PF - Hickson/Arthur / free agent
C - Mozgov / Embiid

Just to bring you back down to reality a bit... We currently have a 10% chance of landing in the top 3 and a 2.8% chance of getting the number 1 pick.

No team would trade their top 5 pick for McGee/Faried or Lawson/Chandler.

Something more realistic would be the Nuggets get the number 8 pick and trade Faried and their own pick to move into the top 5.

few things i'd like:

- keep the team small so we can continue running
- hickson gone
- fournier becoming reliable off bench
- shooters who just shoot
- a healthy roster

don't know if i want ty gone, he's made for our system. don't think faried should be gone before hickson.

1. Parker
2. Randle
3. Smart

#3 can be the player Marcus Smart or just an extremely intelligent addition to our current roster that has nothing to do with the top 10
