Beno Udrih?!

Post#1 » by Phreak50 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 12:09 am

Knicks apparently ready to buy him out.

I've always liked Beno and thought he was often under-used and underrated. He's been here before and I'd love to see him back as a proper backup PG.

(For the record I don't think Corey Joseph deserves to even be in the NBA, but that may just be my harsh opinion).

Well, I doubt we can afford to resign P. Mills after the season he is having meaning Joseph is TP's main backup next year since De Colo is gone. I wouldn't mind Udrih for some more PG competition but we need a swing player badly ATM. Maybe during the off season.

I'm hoping Joseph is closely watching Mills and thinking to himself "Wow! If I work hard in the off season and get in great shape maybe I can improve as well". It took a few years for Mills to figure it out but Joseph is still real young.

If we miss out on Granger I wouldn't mind going after him.

There is no need for Udrih. If we traded Cory or Patty, I can see it.

Beno's time in San Antonio is highlighted by him being sparingly used and got raped by Lindsey Hunter in the playoffs. I don't think he comes back here. His best seasons happen after he left San Antonio. Can't imagine him having fond memories in Spurs uniform.

Good God no. We got Patty and Joseph, no need for Udrih at all.

Not the ex-Knick I'd want. With the emergence of Mills and CoJo contributing as a defender, we have a swiss army knife PG rotation. I just don't see any minutes for him unless something tragic happens.

According to Adrain Wojnarowski, the Spurs are holding off re-signing Shannon Brown to look at the possibility of signing a buyout player.

I hope not

I don't wanna see Beno in a Spurs uniform ever again.

Grizz claimed him off waivers today. Not surprising really they really really need another PG.

I would have taken Beno over Joseph any day of the week.

And yeah, he played well the other day.

The biggest mistake we ever made was getting ride of George hill, I know we got leonard who is an absolute stud, but I believe there was a way to get him without giving up hill. HILL IS A BEAST.

We were never getting Leonard without giving up a decent player period. I think we got the better end of the deal.

I don't see how it was a mistake

1 - George Hill got a 40m contract from Indiana. I seriously doubt that SA would pay him that much to come off the bench. So, it would essentially be a choice between Parker and Hill. Yeah, Parker is an easy choice here.

2 - SA got Kawhi Leonard and Bertans for Hill. Leonard is a stud and Bertans is a very good young prospect.

3 - In order to get a good prospect, you have to give up a decent player. Indiana would not gift SA that 15th pick + a 2nd round pick for our "trash".

The bottom line is that we couldn't be happier about that trade. It was excellent for SA and I don't think SAS FO regrets it at all.

Bertans definitely looks like a player too. He made some big strides this year.

Totally disagree on Hill. We don't need him. Yeah he was more consistent off the bench than our playoff bench has been but I think we lack a backup PG that can really handle the ball. Part of the Pacers problems are that Hill is not a real point guard and that would hurt us too.

Mills can't dribble, Manu loses it too often. Even my 9 year old cousin dribbles better than Joseph.

Beno would have been handy for us right now imo.

Apparently we were interested in the summer but he went to the Knicks instead and at the time that move made more sense for him.
