Earl Clark?
Assuming we buy-out Charlie V, any chance you guys think we pick up Earl Clark?
This is also assuming we are still trying for the playoffs. He is a decent 3pt shooter at a position of need. I think he could be a nice little investment for the rest of the season.

Or even Danny Granger, though I think he would rather go to a contender.

Re: Earl Clark?
If we are still trying to make the playoffs (I don't think we are), and we bought out Villanueva (I don't think we will) then I'd like to get him simply for 3 point shooting. I don't think he'd offer anything else, but he'd be a solid 3 point shooting in a corner.

Re: Earl Clark?
I wouldn't mind cutting someone like Siva, but to what extent? Clark isn't going to help the team win games anyways. So why would they spend more money?
Granger would never come to Detroit.

Whats the point anymore. He wont even touch the ball with Smith and Jennings around.

Still don't think we are bad enough to land a top 8, really we need to push for the playoffs. Earl can help stretch the floor.

Clark actually is a fit for us. He's a stretch 4, not a 3, so he'd play stretch 4 for us off the bench. Cleveland played him out of position trying to use him as a SF.
He'd create room for Smith and Drummond. Would require Monroe and he switch position on O and D, when Greg is in their with Drummond.

Earl Clark would immensely help our team
I dont understand the hate towards this guy
Yes he is not a superstar but he can be just as serviceable as someone like Singler
It's not like we have a wealth of SF on our team: Datome, Singler, Jerebko
We should cut Datome bc after how bad Charlie V screwed our team he doesnt deserve to be cut
There is no way Gores, who spent a 1st round pick to dump BG and refused to amnesty Charlie V is gonna cut him after it's all said and done
But Datome or even Siva they are low cost contracts and if Gores is serious about making the playoffs we should make this deal
Clark would easily play 20-25 minutes in our dysfunctional lineup

Re: Earl Clark?
always liked him. id take him so we can get some floor space down low. play him with bynum, kyle, jorts, and greg or drums at times and the paint would be wide open for dre or bynum to drive

If we were truly trying to make the playoffs, we would waive Charlie and offer granger the cap space.

We wont just cut CV. We will try to agree on a buyout and save some money instead of paying him to be a cheerleader.

Cutting somebody doesn't give us cap space.

You can buy them out. Then only half their salary counts against the cap.

Re: Earl Clark?
- Buy out Charlie V. Tell him it's been real. Laugh when no contender signs him.
- Bench Josh Smith. Tell him straight that he's not a small forward, and that we'd prefer to start Greg Monroe ahead of him. If he pouts, he pouts.
- Sign Danny Granger to a minimum contract for the rest of the season, with the express promise that he will be the #1 option, playing 36+ minutes per game and getting 15+ shots per game. Ride him til he falls. Playoffs.

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

No, the full guaranteed salary counts against the cap.

Re: Earl Clark?
I just don't see Earl Clark as someone who can help this team long term. I don't even see the point for the close of the season. He's had one good season which he did ok, and that's it. His career fg% is 40 and he makes about 1/3 of his 3s. Wouldn't that just help make our problems bigger?

That's not true. That's how we only paid rip half his salary. Unless there is something different about it happening in the off season.
