Hopefully he'll be okay.
I disagree because of the frontcourt depth issues. We are going to really miss his all-around game, from the playmaking to scoring to the defense. All our other options provide only pieces of this
I'm not saying the Wizards won't miss him at all, and I'm certainly not saying they don't have depth issues up front. In fact, in the post you quoted, I explicitly said they should have addressed their frontcourt in the offseason.
BUT, Nenê's actual production has been downright average this year. His offensive efficiency has been poor and his rebounding has been below average. They'll miss him on defense, but his offensive production can be replaced. Where they'll really miss him is when they go to the guy after Booker. That's likely to be Harrington, Singleton or Seraphin, and they don't produce much.
Given the softer schedule the rest of the way, and the fact that Booker has been productive (assuming he can stay reasonably healthy), I think they can play close to .500 ball the rest of the way even without Nenê.

Re: Nene
Agreed. I think the Nene W/L record is exxagerated based on Wall or Beal also missing a good amount of those games. Secondly as you said, its part Nene, part what they brught in to backup Nene.

A little unfair, after Nene beasted on the pelicans, I guarantee everyone here had I little thought in their head "dang it's been a while since Nene got injured"

Re: Nene
The bad thing is that at the same time Andre Miller arrived, Nene wins a game with a dunk. He was about to play inspired ball, perhaps, the rest of this season.
So much for Nene, Al Harrington, and Andre Miller being reunited. Didn't last two games before the curse hit.

And it happened too late to get in on the Jason Collins bidding.

Re: Nene
Ted will take to the blog and claim bad luck.
The reality is that Nene has done what bigs on the wrong side of 30 do -- he's gotten less productive, and he's gotten hurt. The fact that Nene struggled as much as he did with injuries last year and didn't come to camp 25 pounds lighter boggled my mind. Shame on him and the organization.
When you lay down with dogs, you get fleas. When you play with fire you get burned. When you rely on aging big men, they get hurt and torpedo your progress.
This was foreseeable.
I hope Nene is okay for his and the Wizards sake. But this injury wasn't just a freak thing that "happened."

I agree. The Wizards can probably survive the Nene - Booker downgrade in the starting line-up. The big issue is now having to rely on Singleton/Seraphin as the back-ups. Maybe there is a possible buy-out candidate, but they likely can only play one of the post positions(Kaman would probably be the best case).
Should have targeted Hawes or Caveman in a Ves trade anyway. #soernie.

it did happen - the error was in not having a better contingency plan in place.

Weak. I had commented on this health for a while. That would be some serious delayed karma.

Bulls fan here. Im really close to Nene and spoke with some people close to him:
1- He is doing the exam at this very moment.
2- They are not very optimist about his situation.
3- The concern is the MCL and not ACL. - Need to double check on this one.
Lets just hope and wait for the best.
Good luck guys...If I have more details I will post.

He managed to brick 5 shots in 7 minutes yesterday. If Nene is out then Harrington will be our tank commander.

Yeah, next up. Nene will be missed but Wall is more mature now and he has Miller to help run the team. That should give the other bigs a better chance of filling in. But most of this is going to ride on Kevin to replace, not Booker. And we kept Singleton so maybe he can help. If not, they need to add a player.
They can also play some TA at S4.
Its going to take a team effort.

If it's just the MCL, he should be back this season, so I'm not sure how points 2 and 3 go with each other.
