That's just one example. Wright has a tendency to exaggerate or misread a player's pro projections, especially if they are his player or a player in his conference. Since he's in my backyard, I've heard enough of his comments over the years about players the Sixers might look at to know that his opinion on NBA prospects is limited.

LOL

I like how people were going on about his comparison to European descent players

And completely ignored all types of comparisons to Glen Rice, Rashard Lewis, Mike Scott, Antwan Jamison....

Even though McDermott is grounded to the floor and probably can't even dunk on a consistent basis.

Can't help it if he got 6'8 tweener unathletic White guy game down to a T, like Luke Harangody. We see them time and time again, they dominant NCAA and can't even hang in the NBA because they are slow, unathletic and can't defend anybody and all that craftiness doesn't work when you got 6'11 long athletes just breathing down your neck and your little scoop shot gets swatted into the stands.

And Chandler Parsons is 10 times more athletic than Doug Dermott, come on now, stop with the unreasonable White guy comparisons. Totally different position, totally different level of athlete in NCAA, I am disappointed.

I think this should transition to the NBA Draft section of the forum. I also think the Mike Scott comparison is the best I have seen so far

Absolutely disagree. He cannot defend at the NBA level against either forward spot and his rebounding is not good enough to really be a starting quality 4 unless he were playing next to Prime D12 anyway. He's a great college player, but he'll be at best a rotation player on a good NBA team, or a starter on a mediocre/bad team.

Doug is leading the top team in the Big East while averaging 26/7/2 on 64 TS. He has 52/44/90 shooting splits and he makes everything (he shot 49% from deep the last 2 seasons). He can't suck if he makes everything.

I learned my lesson with Steph Curry when it comes to players like this.

Curry has sick handles and is quick enough to play pg. McDermott has no handles and is too slow to play the three. Only thing they have in common is the ability to shoot

If Doug isn't an ELITE three point shooter in this league, he will not be in it for very long. He has no other skills that will really help the team win unfortunately. Great college player and career. Time to take Creighton to the S-16 and beyond.

We go through this every single time a good college white player comes along. The funny thing is a lot of people felt Parsons had top-10 talent (due to his size, ballhandling and athleticism), but he always drifted in college and played passive. He finally gets to the pros and someone says "Take the damn shot already Chandler" and now dude is a borderline all-star. Maybe Billy Donovan should have told him that more. He might have another title.

Those little flip shots will get swatted into the stands because he lacks the length and athleticism. He has a place in this league, but I don't think its more than a bench player. He's going to get roasted on defense.

That's what I saw too. Chicago writers seem to think Bulls might take a chance on him.

I have a hard time seeing how McDermott is going to score enough in the NBA to offset his negative contributions in non-scoring areas like defense.

He's a very good cutter and shooter, but he isn't Reggie Miller or Rip Hamilton. Not enough spring on his feet. More of a stand still long range shooter also.

Mike Scott and Tobias Harris are good comparisons, but those guys are a tad longer and more athletic.

I'd love the Bulls to snag him with their 1st pick, but he'll go in the top 10. Bulls need shooters and thibs can turn horrible defenders into adequate with his system. Excited to see him in the pros.

I like the Paul pierce comparisons.

He can shoot and play the 3, he's Parsons/Morrison. WTF?

Brutally unathletic and already 22 years old. He'll just be another example of guys who excelled in college but sucked in the NBA.

Yeah, already 22 years old... time to get out the wheelchair for that old geezer.

Might want to elaborate more after making such a blatant statement that he'll suck in the NBA.

I love his game for college basketball.

However in the NBA he is a tweener. Tweeners rarely find the level of success expected of them.

I'm not trying to stir the pot but how many black prospects are compared to former or current white NBA players?

Without watching any college ball or looking up pictures, I assumes this thread was about some white, unathletic Adam Morrison type

I think McDermott is clearly a 2 or 3 at the next level and am confused that so many people want him to play power forward.
