Jimmer?

Post#1 » by ImHeisenberg » Tue Feb 25, 2014 4:03 pm

Apparently the Kings are close to a buy out for Jimmer Freddette. While he hasn't set the league on fire since being usurped by the #60 pick in the same draft as he, Jimmer can light it up from outside.

Considering CV is apparently working on a buyout as well, it frees up a roster spot.

Would the Pistons bother signing on a guy like Jimmer to test the fit while the ship is sinking? Would Jimmer even be interested in coming to Detroit? I don't think the contender's are foaming at the mouth to sign him.

Yeah, sign him. If we're going to try to make the playoffs, we might as well get a young shooter.

I wouldn't mind picking him up but I think Hes goes to the Knicks seeing as they probably just lost Felton for a while.

I think he'll have better options than Detroit. We have Jennings, Billions, Siva, & Billups. Can't see us adding a 5th pg

Apparently NY may make a run at him. So, yeah, I'd assume his options are better than the end of Detroit's bench.

I wouldn't mind bringing him in and giving him Bynums minutes, and have him fill in for Stuckey when his time of the month comes around again.

I think Cunningham in the right system could be a solid role player

I despise myself for asking this question, but … are we tanking or not? And not what you think we SHOULD do, but what we actually ARE doing? If we're tanking, phantom injuries are going to start popping up and guys will be shut down over the last month of the season (for example, Billups certainly isn't going to be rushed back). That means we'll be "forced" to give more minutes to the young kids to see what they've' got — Mitchell, Siva, Gigi, KCP, and Jimmer would fit that mold as well. Plus, let's face it, he's exactly the 3-point specialist backup PG our team could use long term. If our team is officially pulling up our tents on this season and looking towards the future, an extended tryout for Jimmer makes sense. If we're still chasing the 8th seed, no way the same team that's not even giving minutes to last year's #8 pick signs Jimmer; Loyer would never play him over Bynum.

We obviously need shooting, but this isn't the way to get it. There aren't a lot of guys in the league that could make our backcourt defense worse, but he is one of them.

I would definitely like to add him but I doubt we have a realistic shot unless we promise him starters minutes for the remainder of the season so he can try to earn a nice new contract.

yeah Jennings and Jimmer together would be terrible for penetration and open 3's

Chris smith could probably drop 30 on that back court lol

We definitely need LESS perimeter defense than we currently have.

Think about it this way for 1 second..... If you were an NBA player looking for a good destination to showcase yourself for a contract next year, would you even think of entering the mess that is Detroit or New York right now? I highly doubt it.
He is obviously doing whatever he can to get away from the failure franchise he is in now. He is going to go somewhere where A) he can get some playing time, and B) be inserted into some kind of system that makes him look good. Neither of those situations are in Detroit or NY who don't even know what type of team they want to be.

Brilliant! I was wondering if anyone even took the time to register how ridiculous that picture was.
