Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
I like the fact that he's been making his shots as of late at high efficiency. That's what they need out of him since defenses don't pay him much attention as a offensive threat. I still would like to see him rebound a little better. Averaging around 30 minutes per game, he should be grabbing at least 7 rebounds instead of 5 rebounds. This season has been rebounding at a career low rate, with a 9.7 total rebounding percentage

Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
this was such a cool play, even if McBob didn't mean to hit Hendo with that pass.

if Josh keeps this up, he can become the second 6-10 player to average 4 assists per game and hit 38% of his threes. if that percentage drops down a bit, you can add Lamar Odom and Kevin Garnett to the conversation. cool stat.

Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
Analysis of a play the stellar Zack Lowe calls The McBobdouble:
5. The Josh McRoberts Double-Team Effect
There is a hard-to-measure positive effect in having both a post behemoth and a power forward who can shoot 3s on the floor at the same time — a rare combination in today’s NBA, mind you.
Watch this Charlotte possession carefully:

Kemba Walker enters the ball to Al Jefferson, and Walker’s man, Jennings, dips down to double Big Al. That makes Walker the “one pass away” outlet for Jefferson. If Jefferson makes that pass to Walker, lots of NBA coaches will instruct the closest perimeter defender to slide toward Walker — giving Jennings time to scurry across the court and find someone on the weak side.
But the closest perimeter defender here is Greg Monroe, since Josh McRoberts, a big with 3-point range, is next to Walker up top. That’s an unusual setup, and it leaves Monroe with the uncomfortable job of switching onto the speedy little guy.

Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
It's a very common example used by Zach Lowe and it's not like it hasn't been obvious and some members haven't pointed this out, but food for thought for the people who want Biz starting alongside Al. It would turn into "passes out of double teams for Biz who mishandles the ball" galore.

I don't think the mass of us want Biyombo to start alongside Jefferson, but would be obliged to see the two receive spare minutes together when the matchup allows it & interior defense is needed

Is it a foregone conclusion that McRob opts out after this season? If so, how much do we pay to keep him or do we just wave goodbye?

Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that McRoberts opts out after this season. Charlotte is set to pay McRoberts $2.7 million if he opts into his player option, and I don't see many, if any, teams willing to pay him in excess of $4 million all the while guaranteeing him playing time considering his mediocre raw numbers on the surface
That's not to say that he's not going to opt out, but I'm sure he will weigh his options carefully, and if you ask me it would be best for him to return to Charlotte for basketball reasons if the financial reasons of a team possibly offering him around $3.5 million annually on a 3-year contract doesn't end up outweighing it

I'd give McBob 3/12m.
He's sure as hell worth 4m per and the longer he sticks around the better.
That's backup money and even if he goes to the bench and plays 20mpg he's worth it.

Re: Dayman Cometh - The Josh McRoberts Thread
I wouldn't give McBob $4 mil per year because I don't think no other NBA team would offer him that. I respect what he's done for us but there's level to this. You get paid what the market indicates and what other teams are willing to pay for your services. Nobody opening up their checkbook much for a perceived journeyman PF that only averages 8 points and 5 rebounds. JJ Hickson averaged a damn near a double-double and only got $5 mil per and already got the Nuggets kinda regretting it. McBob's value is bigger for us than his numbers show but the rest of the league wouldn't understand that. I'd offer him 3 yrs/$11 mil as a max offer if he decline his player option.

People have to factor in, the value of players is far more than just their oncourt production.
McBob's 3 point and passing ability alone will be intriguing to most teams, since he'll be available for less than the MLE and is a starter on a team that is (potentially) heading for the playoffs.

The question is how many teams outside of the Bobcats would trust their offense in McBob's hands? Lol. I know I wouldn't trust paying him close to $5 mil to be a facilitator if I was a GM. I already kinda dislike the fact that we ran a offense around him passing the ball earlier in the year but lately we've been getting away from it, letting Kemba and Big Al run more pick-and-roll, and our offense has been looking better. I appreciate McBob but to me he's not really starting material.

I agree that longterm he's not really starter material and that's why at 4m he can go to the bench.
I suppose it's not about what other GM's will offer him, but what we should offer him.
I still think he's going to receive a fair bit of interest.
I'd love to see some continuity in regards to our roster next season as the Hornets.

I want McBob back and I think McBob wants to come back. They'll reach a agreement between 3-4 mil if he opts out.

Happy birthday to Josh!
This one's hilarious! I vote that we rename McBob's thread to "ASAP Joshy".

Last night's blind behind the back dish to Tolliver for the slam was pretty sweet. Was it David West? It was hilarious watching his reaction on the replay. He just froze.
It has been written...

I think it was David West. I definitely have it in my notes, will get around to uploading it during the weekend.
