By himself, you're probably right.

If that fails, see what it would take to get Josh Smith.

We have enough youth, trade the pick for the right vet on draft day.

I don't know, I think the Bucks would be super lucky just to get a useful player and some expiring dough for Sanders. Henson and Sanders means two for the price of one, but no way do I trade a top 10 pick, even when this draft starts getting weaker after 5 for just Sanders.

Josh Smith is an interesting option. I think it might be in the Kings interest to look that way if they don't re-sign IT. If you can get Smith for JT and Jet I think you do it. Smith is much better at PF and here he could be a solid 3rd option behind Gay and Cuz. That would also be some serious athletic ability at the 3 and 4. If they were able to land Rondo or another pass first guard you could be looking at lob city north right there.

Regardless, he was a decent player when he was here. Nobody thought he would be an all-star, but in terms of value, you ignored the points I made about JT--youth (less important than the other two), size, and contract size.

I don't know where you get this idea that teams would have to "free up" money for JT. They wouldn't. They would trade the salary they already have. There is no reason many teams couldn't combine a couple players if JT is a player they would look for.

We're not going to get a good player back for him. That's not the idea. The idea is clear long term salary. We'll take a hit in talent, sure. That's rebuilding. If we draft out PF of the future or acquire him in some other way soon, depleting JT's talent becomes less and less relevant. He's a stopgap anyway.

And that's how JT will be moveable. Teams won't want to give up valuable pieces for him, but if it costs them a little more salary to get a productive third big that can play both big man spots, then sure they'll do it.

Anyway, here are some teams that could have reason to want JT.
Hawks
Nets
Bobcats
Clippers
Suns
Trail Blazers
Spurs

And more than a couple of them are in a salary position to potentially make a move for him.

Mitch, that's complete crap. People on these boards were happy with Thomas' performance his first season here. Many people were excited with how well he played the first half season he got traded here, and people were excited to get out of Webber's contract.

Teams do have to "free up" money for JT. The only way they can trade for him, is to send out approximately the same amount of money as JT's contract. My point is, most of the teams that would be interested in JT either have similar production from cheaper players ie (Spurs, Suns, Blazers) or simply don't have the ability to muster up enough salary without sacrificing key pieces ie Clippers.

Let' look at the Clippers as an example, and the pieces they have
$6.5 mil - JJ Reddick
$5.2 mil - Jamal Crawford
$4.2 mil - Jared Dudley
$3.2 mil - Matt Barnes
$1.9 mil - Darren Collison
$1.4 mil - Willie Green
$1.1 mil - Reggie Bullock
$1.1 mil - Ryan Hollins

Crawford, Reddick, Dudley, and Barnes plays a huge role for them, and they most likely wouldn't move any of those players. They'd be left without a backup PG if they got rid of Collison, so that would be questionable...and outside of that...they simply can't put together the salary required for JT.

First off, calling me Mitch and talking about how these boards were back in 2005? Didn't you join a couple weeks ago? (Whoops)

People were fine with Kenny Thomas, but nobody thought he was going to be a star or anything.

I guess we have different definitions of "free up," but regardless, they'd be doing so get back their main 3rd big. That's not just a random piece added for sh*ts and giggles. That's adding JT with the hope of him playing a real role.

Jared Dudley has fallen out of favor for the Clippers. He's only surpassed 20 minutes in a game once in the last month. That's not a "huge" role. They need a backup big way worse than they need a backup SF.

Most teams have some guys for some amount of money that they don't really need, or at least not as much as they could use a real third big. Danny Green is having a weaker year in SA. Lou Williams looks way worse post-injury in Atlanta. The Nets have...ahem, Marcus Thornton, Charlotte has many options, Phoenix will have a ton of capspace, Portland has many options.

None of these is definitely an answer, but the point is that these teams have the options if they decide they'd want JT.

I'd think it's a given the Bucks will keep one of Sanders/Henson, but not both.

On a similar note, the more I think about it, the more I think I'd be able to give up a very high pick to get Joakim Noah. I think he is so perfectly what we need, and I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility that the Bulls look to move him.
