New Member, Huge Pistons Fan

Post#1 » by saintsthabest » Thu Feb 27, 2014 3:28 pm

Became a Pistons fan right before the finals started out of my extreme hate for the Lakers. I was only about 8 at the time and just was becoming a fan of the sport and Richard Hamilton soon became my favorite player.

What do you think the Pistons will do this offseason? I really hate we took in BJennings and Smoove the year that the draft was looking a hell of a lot better than last year...really was hoping that we would tank and continue to develop Drummond, Moose, and recently drafted KCP.

Welcome aboard.

This offseason will be hard to gauge because we will most likely have a new GM, so who knows what route they'll take.
right now, moving Smith and keeping our pick looks like the two big things i want.

Welcome to the board!

Hopefully this off-season, Dumars is fired- a competent GM is hired to replace him. A high quality coach is hired that will be able to implement a good defensive scheme and develop our young players. And, hopefully Smith and Jennings find new teams.

That would be a winning off-season in my humble opinion.

Welcome to RealGM. It's always good to have new Piston fans here with different perspectives.

Good question, I think this off-season is going to be based off what happens this season. If we make the playoffs, I think we'll be active and find a couple pieces to fill in the blanks(2-guard, back-up 4). If we don't make the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if we traded Josh Smith for an average player+2014 pick.

Yea it's been a rough decade lol I really like what I'm seeing out of Drummond and I liked Monroe until Smoove came...I felt like Monroe was a potential all-star but idk how he'll develop with Smoove there

Welcome to the board! I became a Pistons fan back in the 80's (more specifically 1986), when it seemed like everybody was a fan of the Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, and the Bulls. I loved Isiah's heart. I loved the team's grit and utter disrespect for the teams everybody seemed to revere.

They were the Bad Boys and they balled hard all the time.

Anywho, this team is not the Bad Boys, they're fall under the category of "boy are they bad!" What will the offseason hold? An overhaul! Time to Go Joe campaign in full effect. He's been a part of 3 championships and great success, but things are stale. His vision for building a contender is blurred. We need a new visionary. We need fresh eyes. I am not sure who that will be. Doug Collins/Steve Kerr

We have need of a coach. We need someone to bring back the grit. We need someone to bring back the ground and pound attitude that fit the Detroit mindset and the Detroit Piston fan mindset. Lionel Hollins/Jeff Van Gundy

The changes at the time have to be immediate so the culture and the identity of the team can be in place prior to the moves during the draft and free agency. The focal point of this team is Drummond, build around him. Wish list for the draft: Marcus Smart
