Well, yeah, we all know the guy's got talent, and he does seem to be a reliable midrange jump shooter, so I don't mind him taking those shots...but he's not just taking those shots...he's pump faking, jab stepping, and then chucking up a contested shot more often than not. He's gotten a ton of traveling violations called on him as a result, and he's making some really stupid decisions out there in terms of passing the ball and overdribbling.
So far, he has a 24.9% turnover rate, and a USG% of 22.5%. Not including guys like Evans and Teletovic, who have barely played...Blatche has the highest turnover rate on the team and the second highest USG rate (Lopez is first)...meaning when he's out there, he's using up more possessions than Pierce, Johnson, and D-Will! That's unacceptable.
I don't want him kicked off the team, because we saw how valuable a focused Blatche was last year...but he seems to have lost his focus and seems to be doing whatever the hell he wants out there, even though he's like the 7th best player on the team on his best day. He needs to do what made him successful last year...play under control (not saying he didn't have stupid moments last year, but they were greatly suppressed), play in the post (where his jab stepping and pump faking will do him some good), stop trying to create off the dribble so much, and give A LOT more effort defensively. His defense was solid last year...it's been a trainwreck this year.

Re: Kidd on Blatche's Shot Selection
I gotta admit Blatche has reigned it in these last two games. He's not just gunning it from 20ft every time he gets the ball.
I'd still like for him to reduce the amount of dribbling and ISOs he does but I figured that I would at least give him some credit for playing the YOLO style he's played for most of the season so far.

Re: Kidd on Blatche's Shot Selection
Blatche has been an inefficient chucker for his entire career, I'm not sure why some of you are expecting this to change now.
His shot selection, behind the back dribbles and insistence to float on the perimeter is precisely what made him such an abject failure with the Wizards.
Boggles the mind to see the Nets encouraging him to play that way again after he had his most productive season as a pro cutting that nonsense down to a minimum..

I have to agree with Bondy here...Blatche is not Dirk, stop encouraging him!
I guess we're still waiting for this guy's shot to fall?

its not about his jumper falling. he SHOULD be taking the 18 footers when they are there. its the triple cross over step back fade away jumpers that are the problem. he has hit a higher % of open jumpshots this season then garnett.
the 18 footer and the pump 18 footer into a drive to the rim are what makes blatche such a talented effective player. centers cant gaurd that. its the other stuff that needs to go

I was mostly joking. Yea he's a knockdown shooter when someone else creates for him and he's open. The problem is the overdribbling, fade away jumpers, the 3's. He still has good post moves and great footwork down low. He gets players to bit on shot fakes, dream shakes, etc and then is left with a layup. I wish that was encouraged more. He was much better for us last year and I do think a lot of the disappointment is how Kidd has handled him.

Re: Kidd on Blatche's Shot Selection
When he gets fancy with the ball is when he turns it over. Almost every time he lost the ball, the opposition was gifted with a turnover. He has to play more efficient and smart. This isn't streetball. Even though he turned it around last year, he still has to play smart for us to have any chance of winning in the East. At 27-29 and Chicago and Toronto not losing much, we have to really turn it on at this point in the season and try to close atleast with 45-46 wins. 50 at this point is unrealistic.

45-46 is unrealistic as well.
we should hope for .500 maybe a game or two over. we arent going 19-6 or whatever to finish out the year.

Blatche shot chart through today:

KG shot chart through today:

There are only two spots on the floor where Blatche has a higher FG% than KG: in the restricted area and 18-22ft jumper from the right side of the floor.
KG has a higher FG% in all other sectors of the floor (obviously not including 3PT range).

Re: Kidd on Blatche's Shot Selection
I still think his shot selection has improved. Atleast the way he takes em. His problem is the lack of effort on defense. This is what's pissing me off with him.

Re: Kidd on Blatche's Shot Selection
One random thing that bothers me about Blatche is that in end of quarter situations he ALWAYS wants to take a 3. Watch him. End of any quarter - he always spots up at the 3 pt line. It's also an issue because when they pass it to him, instead of trying to get it to one of our guards/wings, he holds onto it because he badly wants the clock to wind down so he can get a 3 off without punishment.
I'm fine with corner 3s when AK47 or SL is in the game but the fact is - he's shooting 24%. It looks cool when it goes in but that's an irresponsible percentage to even allow 3s as a coaching staff. 30% is the marker and he's not even close.

Not to mention that after starting off shooting an abysmal 36% for the first half of the year KG has shot 57% since January

Not to mention that after starting off the year at an abysmal shooting percent of 36% KG's been shooting 57% since January and 44% on the year only 3% point less than Blatche who is shooting 47% on the year.. At this point forward I think it's obvious why I want KG to take those shots instead of Blatche.
