As I mentioned before, I like this move a LOT. Mainly, because we now have a reliable backup behind Blake who can play some center.

More importantly, Davis knows Rivers' defensive system, can guard mobile PFs and is a decent on the glass. This is step 2 towards improving our defense down the stretch. Step 1 was getting Paul back.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Contract Details

Post#62 » by Ranma » Thu Feb 27, 2014 3:54 pm

Broderick Turner, Los Angeles Times (2/26/14)
Glen Davis signed a two-year deal with the Clippers. He has a player option for next season for the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million. He'll earn a prorated version of that for the rest of the season, around $350,000.

Clippers might sign Danny Granger

Interesting Davis wanted a option for next year doubt he picks it up. He may resign with the team but I suspect for around 4 mil or so.

You forget the fact he's still owed 6.6 mil from Orlando next year. So why would he opt out. He's still gonna get payed.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Not the worst thing int he world for Davis. Even if he doesnt get into shape this season, he is on a title contender next season, playing in a familiar system and will have plenty of minutes to earn a new contract (ala Collison this season).
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

BBD Debut

Check out the Fox Sports West interview with Davis shown at the article linked below.

Eric Patten, Clippers.com (2/27/14)
Davis scored two points, making a pair of fourth-quarter free throws, blocked two shots, committed three fouls, had two rebounds, kept two more plays alive on the offensive glass and took, and missed, a step-back jumper without hesitation.

Before the game Head Coach Doc Rivers said he was unsure how much Davis would play Wednesday, but certainly had a vision for how the 28-year-old big man will help going forward.

“It is going to give us more depth at the 4 position,” Rivers said. “He’s a bruiser, banger, rebounder. He’s just a unique type of player. For as big as he is, he moves well. He can play defense and he can shoot. He did a lot of little things that help winning teams get over the hump.”

Five Things About Big Baby

Post#67 » by Ranma » Sat Mar 15, 2014 10:04 am

Quick summary from Eric Patten's Clippers.com feature on Glen Davis:

1) Got his nickname from his coach playing on senior football team instead of pee-wee division at the age of 9 years old. :football:

2) Only player on Clippers roster with championship ring (2008 with Boston) but also played with Hedo and Redick in Orlando.

3) Picked up and body-slammed Shaquille O'Neal on LSU campus while play-wrestling as 15-year-old.:eek2:

4) Auditioned for and came close to nabbing the role of Michael Oher in "The Blind Side".8-)

5) Listen to his recorded song, "Big Baby Gon' Turn It Up".

Davis seems to be playing the Odom role very well on defense. The offense can use work but not bad.

HIs help defense and screen setting has been good. And he hasn't been forcing his offense, which is good. In due time, it will come to him. I think you'll see him at his peak in the playoffs.
