So Barbosa is out of the rotation then, you think? I wouldn't do without him if he can play. God knows our games have been terrible lately.

Ariza has 40 points against the 76ers, shooting 61 % and 67 % from 3. He's also a great defender. He's a guy I've always wanted and would really prefer to have over Gordon Hayward considering he's cheaper, and would allow us to focus on finding an upgrade to Plumlee.

Contract year for Ariza. Beware...

I'd rather sign Deng who brings it every night or Hayward but both will be out of our price range. I think our SF next year is a rookie or PJ Tucker. Sorry Duece.

Of course LBJ but I think we'd need Love incoming to lure the King. We could probably get KL in a deal for Dragic but Lebron would have to guarantee his coming here first...

Ariza for $5-$6M would be great. Nothing more though.

For an instant title team? Dragic plus a kidney and toe.

Alright, I'm intrigued. Why do you deem Dragic tradeable and not Bledsoe? I'm sure he could also be used in a Love trade.

Well I would prefer a big-3 of Lebron/Dragic/Love but Minnesota has no use for Bledsoe and 3-way's including an RFA just don't happen. We'd be forced to deal directly with the team that signs him to an offer-sheet.

You cannot sign and trade an RFA once he has signed an offer sheet - not even with the team that signed the player to the offer sheet.

Dragic's playing at such a high level, I'm not sure I'd trade him for Love.

I remember hearing the Suns & Hornets could've worked out a trade after Eric Gordon signed our offer-sheet. Must be a under the new CBA...?

Unless it was part of something bigger like attracting the best player on planet earth, I probably wouldn't either.

Strange but true! dragic is a top player.....PERIOD!!! We add to him, not trade him to make a neutral move.

No I think that was speculation by media-types that do not know the rules. Once the offer sheet is signed there is no sign and trade opportunities. it has been that way for several CBAs. When the player signs an offer sheet, he is actually signing a contract with the offering team, when a sign and trade is done, the player is actually signing a contract with his resident team. If you recall, Joe Johnson was not going to sign the Hawks' offer sheet because he was afraid the Suns would match. They worked out the sign and trade before he actually signed the sheet.

There are about 7 days between the opening of free agency where verbal offers are made and when people can ink them (at least that's how it has been in the past) so usually any sign and trades would be negotiated during that time.

I don't know what Bledsoe will really command, but he shouldn't get over $10 million a year, not after two knee surgeries, and we shouldn't pay him that much with a better pg on the roster (I wouldn't let him go for nothing, but I'd do a sign and trade for someone like Afflalo rather than pay him over $10 million a year).

It's always been that way. Free agency period starts 2 weeks before players can actually sign. The time between when a player agrees and when they actually sign they could work out a S&T but once the player actually signs that is no longer an option.

= sticking a fork in Bledsoe4Love

Hypothetically we trade Dragic and the twins for K-Love on July 1st and Frye opts out...

Dragic + Twins = 13.7m combined for the 14-15' season
Love = 15.7m so we take on +2M equaling 28M for five players (not including our draft picks yet)

Could we sign Lebron for MAX as long as Bledsoe's cap-hold plus 2-3 rookie salaries still fall under the salary cap? Then match his offer-sheet?

We're not going to get LeBron, but I could see Minnesota interested in trading Love for Dragic. Something like this would be great if Love agrees to a long term extension.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nxm4sno

We're not going to sign LeBron, so it's not even worth talking about. Signing Deng, Ariza or Hayward would be much more likely. I'm partial to Ariza because of his cost and he's a good defender. We still would have about $12m in cap space. Maybe getting a guy like Greg Monroe and using the vets min or mini-MLE for Steve Blake? Going in with a roster of

PG - Eric Bledsoe, Steve Blake, Ish Smith
SG - Kevin Martin, Gerald Green, Archie Goodwin
SF - Trevor Ariza, Marcus Morris
PF - Kevin Love, Markieff Morris
C - Greg Monroe, Miles Plumlee

That team is a contender and close to a championship team.

My scenario was more a CBA related question. Like can we spend up to limit in FA and then go over the cap to match Bledsoe's offer-sheet as long as the total salaries stay under Bledsoe/Tucker cap-holds.

As for Lebron I wouldn't say it's 0%. Out of all the playoff teams only Phoenix can sign him outright and still have the assets to acquire another star. Don't be my dream-killer. :)

If Suns are gonna win a championship, I want Dragic and Bledsoe leading the team to it.

Return to Phoenix Suns
