People still think Durant has a sizable lead, even after tonight? Seriously, some of you just don't get it.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or if you genuinely feel that but KD is still in the lead. I won't lie before this game I thought KD had it wrapped up and you can see that from my previous posts in the thread but he really is making a push right now. This game will certainly make all the people who have KD as their MVP look at LeBron again but I wouldn't be so down on KD's chances. Lots of games left for both of these players to beast out.
A bit of both. But I can see the media watching what LeBron has done post All-Star break, and the whole "the media's attention wasn't almost 100% on the NBA when Durant was going off but it is now when LeBron is going off" thing playing a role which kinda sucks, but it is what it is I guess. I personally still think Durant is more deserving at this point in the season but I'm also a little biased.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

I echo toodles' sentiment. I think KD still has the MVP but more importantly LeBron has reaffirmed his status as #1 in the league right now (for those who doubted it anyway). He truly was "coasting" during the first half. Make of that what you will but LeBron is still LeBron.

LeBron is closing the gap, but Durant still has the lead. His overall numbers are better, and he's played a far tougher SOS and without Westbrook more than the Heat have been without Wade. Plus OKC has done much better in those games without their 2nd star. Same team records at this point.
Biggest thing is Durant's numbers are better overall. I don't see media members, with a straight face could give the MVP to LeBron posting worse overall numbers than Durant and with his team as the 2nd seed, just because he finished the season out stronger.
I mean, in the past, Jordan outplayed everyone and still couldn't win the MVP because of voter fatigue. And now in a season where LeBron isn't even posting the best overall numbers, nor has his team as a 1st seed in a crap conference, he's the MVP? If that's the case they need to change who votes on the award to players/coaches who will be more consistent with how they vote.

Really good performance by LBJ tonight. He's clearly in the lead at this point. It's unfair to KD but voters value the latter part of the season much more than the first part. ESPN and crew are going to go crazy over this performance no doubt.

You guys don't get it, whatever your criteria is doesn't matter. The fact NBA.com had LeBron #1 for the past 2 weeks and the rest of the media is starting to turn to is what matters.

Okay, so what is the criteria that has LeBron as the MVP over Durant right now then?

This man actually gets it. Most people in here think their opinion means something when it means absolutely nothing. When Durant was going off nobody was paying attention to the NBA as the NFL season was still going on. Once it ended all eyes turned to the NBA and that's when LeBron started going off. This included a game on national television in which the Heat dominated the Thunder and LeBron dominated Durant and now this.
It's clear Durant no longer has a sizable lead if he even has a lead at this point.

Whatever the media thinks it is, that's what matters. They are the ones who vote. Even if they're wrong, they believe the race is extremely close right now.

You're basically arguing LeBron for end of season MVP. For the 2013-2014 season MVP though, Durant is still clearly in the lead and I don't know how one could argue otherwise.

Another guy who thinks his opinion means something. Amusing.

The race isn't close.
LeBron is clearly in the lead as of today.
Whoever doesn't know this hasn't been following the NBA for long.

Re: 2013-14 MVP Discussion Thread Pt II
Lebron is in the lead. Doesn't mean Durant can't catch up.
But like I said right after the OKC Miami game. Nobody questions that Lebron is the best after that game and that was a big thing going for Durant because all the metrics and everything were on his side. Lebron has done nothing since to say that he ain't the best. Obviously tonight if it wasn't clear, it's pretty clear, he's the best player in the NBA.
nba.com ladder already had him number 1 and the media is flipping.

It hurts, i know. but it is what it is. after all the **** you talked about LeBron in this thread, it'll be so funny when he gets his well deserving 5th MVP award at the end of the season.

LeBron - 61 Pts on 22/33, 7 Rebs & 5 Asts
This MVP race is a bar fight and on top of that OKC record is 45-15 while Miami's record is 43-14
