Don't know if it's true or not but it will definitely be one of the biggest pop in RAW history. There also has been rumors of CM Punk being inserted to the Orton vs Batista match at WM30 to make it a triple threat. Not a fan of that but I understand why Vince would want that since the fans will crucify that match. I still think Daniel Bryan deserves to be in the main event.

Two things here:

1 - if true, I wish they would have just kept it a secret to the very end without any spoilers. Would have just felt better when it happened.

2 - though I feel it's a work & he will return, having a leaked the day before makes it kinda skeptical. I feel like Vince could be pulling a sports GM move & leaked the info on purpose, knowing that the crowd would wait out the night to the last segment to go crazy about no CM Punk. Hopefully that's not the case & he does show up though.

Downloaded this app on a whim just because it was there.
And WTF I can watch all my favorite 2000 Attitude Era pay per views, too good.

Might get back into watching the modern day stuff.
Any place I can go to get back in the loop or do I just have to force myself back into it and pick up the context as I go along?

Start with CM Punk's pipe bomb back in 2011. That's when everything took a major shift. It won't take you long to get back in the loop from there. The most predominant storyline throughout the last few years has been the transition of power from Vince McMahon to Triple H. Around this time too, you'll notice that the remnants of the attitude and ruthless aggression era are mostly gone. Not a lot of overhaul in the roster from here on to now, and with the WWE doing away with the Raw/Smackdown brand split, it makes the program easier to follow. Basically by this point, they got rid of the washed up veterans and any mediocre young talent that did not pan out.

Another REALLY good place to start if you want to come in a bit sooner would be Money In The Bank 2013. That was right where Daniel Bryan was building some serious momentum, CM Punk went full on babyface, and Randy Orton was elevated back to the top.

Other wrestlers on that PPV worth watching are Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, and all 3 members of The Shield.

What they got rid of that stupid separation on Smackdown and Raw?

I hated that when I tried to get back into it in the late 2000's.

This app is really great, what pay per views should I be watching around 2011?

The brand split ended on August 29th, 2011 per wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_Brand_Extension

For PPV's worth watching that are still relevant with today's story lines, you could start with Money In The Bank 2011. That was where CM Punk beat John Cena for the WWE Championship. Daniel Bryan won the MITB for the World Heavyweight Title so that was a big defining moment for him as well.

I wouldn't invest much time into PPV's from 2011 prior to MITB due to most of the storylines not being relevant anymore. Before then, a faction known as the Nexus dominated the storylines, but once Super Cena saved the world, they disbanded and were never relevant again. Most of the wrestlers from that faction are still around, but most have taken on new gimmicks and it's as if the Nexus never even existed.

Everything from Summer of Punk (MITB 2011) until now ties together. You'll eventually notice the parallels between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan's stories, and a reason why someone who was into wrestling during the Attitude Era would to be interested in wrestling now.

It's not that CM Punk pioneered the idea of breaking the 4th wall in wrestling. It's just that when he did it, it came at the perfect time. The best storylines the WWE has are when there is that blurring of the lines of kayfabe. It's what keeps sophisticated fans tuned in while the WWE still has to pander to a younger audience as well.

Bryan vs Batista? WOW. I'm surprised they're not waiting to have them fight for the 1st time on a PPV.

Yeah definitely surprised they're giving away 2 big PPV-calibre matches on free TV. I'll be tuning in tonight for sure especially since its in Chicago with the ravenous crowd.

A little correction though, they did face off on RAW once a couple years back. Bryan gave him a surprisingly competitive 5 or 6 minute match.

Ziggler faced Batista in his debut on Raw a long time ago.

Similar to what WCW used to do back in the days. I guess they are taking advantage of the big hype surrounding raw tonight. Even John Cena is tweeting about how the crowd will be participating during raw.

I didn't like that Heyman promo. It was all about promoting Brock vs Undertaker at WM30.

The end of an era guys. I think that's officially the last time we see the Shield wrestle together. What a match though.

Hopefully they all have great individual careers.

The Shield are right under The Four Horseman, DX, and NWO in regards to impact as a faction. I think at some point, they'll unite once again.
