Durant still has the lead. But, is it possible for them to be Co-MVP winners? Has it ever happened before(not counting All-Star MVP with Shaq and Kobe)? It would be great if both of them end up winning it with each one taking home an MVP trophy.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Now is like a tie.
Durant was unreal at January and Lebron is unreal at February after the game at Utah.
Now is a "war".
Similar team records.
But Miami has to give some tough games at West with Houston and San Antonio.
Is a great tough race.

LeBron is clearly in the lead as of today.

How is LeBron in the lead?

He isn't.

You keep telling yourself that, you'll sleep much better.

And make sure you don't tune in ESPN during the first couple of weeks of May. Trust me here.

Implying I would tune into BSPN anyways

Nah, you wanna make a case for LeBron as the MVP right now with it being "not even close." Go ahead. You wanna dodge the question, that's cool too.

You're basically arguing LeBron for end of season MVP. For the 2013-2014 season MVP though, Durant is still clearly in the lead and I don't know how one could argue otherwise.

End of season MVP??
In that case Durant should be titled January 2014 MVP. He had a putrid start or did you conveniently forget that? LeBron has been better in February and now we'll so far in March. Miami also has the better team record at this point (%).

I'm not saying that LeBron is the runaway MVP or so. It's just that at this point it can sway either way and we have to watch till the end of the regular season.

This guy has a vote... You're kidding yourself if you don't think the race isn't close.

That would be lame. You're the MVP or you're not. I hope LeBron gets it and he surely looks like he's ready. Let MVP #5 come! King James gonna tie MJ on this one.

So wait, they give the MVP to whoever scores the most vs the Bobcats?

its a tie
till end of January: Durant by a good but not great margin

Since then: Lebron by a big margin

so Durant has a longer stretch speaking for him

but what Lebrons been doing the last month...

he is arguably playing his best basketball of his life so far..

cant ignore that..

Another narrative: 'I can score 60 if I want'... drops 61.

Best player in the league by a margin at the peak of his powers. If you don't think that's a juicy narrative...

What are Lebron's updated stats after this game?

Yeah, don't know why he hasn't been shooting 8/8 from 3 more often or playing the whole 4th quarter in a blowout game vs a trash opponent. Guess he just didn't want to.

While KD is having a tremendous season, I think Lebron took a lead at this point. Lebron has been absolutely flawless since the Utah game. I thought KD and Lebron were pretty equal before the month in January when KD was playing out of his mind. Lebron has also been playing out of his mind the last month so he has the lead. I think the timing favors him right now.

And what did Tim Legler just say on Sportscenter? Most of the time with the MVP race it's about "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY"

It's amusing how people just don't get this.

And he put LeBron over Durant when it comes to the MVP race. People who don't think it's close are fooling themselves.

Yes. The same opponent that Durant could barely do anything against in comparion to LeBron.

How are you comparing Melo with Lebron? Your hate for Lebron is a little ridiculous. The MVP race is so close between the best players in the league, Lebron and KD. These epic performances just help us decide who might get the edge.

Okay, so what is the criteria that has LeBron as the MVP over Durant right now then?

That he's the best player in the NBA.

Durant's case is that is he is having a better season than LeBron, which is true.

Let's not act like there isn't a semi-valid argument for each of them. But if LBJ continues his post-AS form for the rest of the season (or even just till the end of March) then it isn't going to matter - he'll win without too much debate.

100% agreed. This is one of the closest MVP races in some time.

I'm just responding to the people saying "LeBron is now the MVP and it isn't even close." A clear response to LeBron running up the score at home vs the Bobcats coming off getting whooped by OKC last night.

The Heat aren't even first in the East (one of the worst conferences of all time) right now and Durant still has better overall numbers than LeBron, but now LeBron is the MVP and it isn't even close because of a dominant performance vs the Bobcats? LMAO.
