Trade Deadline Thread
Well its a pretty active deadline so far. The big shocker so far has been St. Louis to New York for Callahan, a 1st and a 2nd.

Still 3 more hours, but that's a huge move already.

Tim Thomas to Dallas for Dan Ellis.
Meszaros to Boston for a 3rd.
Gaborik to LA for Frattin and conditional 2nd and 3rd.
Minnesota just got Matt Moulson for Torrey Mitchell and undisclosed picks.

The trade deadline somehow made Garth Snow look even more terrible at his job than he already is.

Don't really get what Buffalo's doing. They basically got nothing for Moulson, Miller and Ott.

Re: Trade Deadline Thread
Gaborik might be bounce back in LA, Ruutu in NJ and Vanek in Montreal are also quality moves.
Hemsky to Ottawa was a good addition and Stempniak adds depth to an already dangerous nucleus in Pittsburgh.
All around interesting day.

Legwand to Detroit for Jarnkruk and a 3rd. Love that deal for the Preds.

puke. MY thoughts on the only Wings deal (and a fairly major prospect departing):
You also got Patty Eaves. Hes about as good a 4th liner as you get: solid defensively, very fast, kills penalties and throws the body. Only thing he doesn't do is drop the gloves. If you needed a guy like that, you should be happy.
Jarnkrok is interesting. I've seen him play live 3 times this year in GR and honestly haven't been blown away. Frankly he was invisible alot of the time. But coming into the season he was arguably our number 1 or 2 prospect (with Mrazek) and the comparisons to a young Zetterberg aren't totally crazy. Good two way game. Very good hands. Still way too small; gets muscled around and the transition to the NA game hasn't been easy for him. Hot lately though. Heard rumors he was going back overseas after the season; do not know if that is even close to legit.
He's still a top-5 guy in our system (and it is a decent system) and I don't like losing him for David freaking Legwand. Nice player and all, but no thanks for that price. Classic Kenny Holland move; bring in an again veteran that won't really alter our season terribly. We'll probably give him 2 year deals til he is 40. Yippee.

I think the most interesting deal of the day is the Av's giving the Flames a 2nd rounder for Reto Berra. Not only is Berra nothing special but the Av's really don't need any help in net.

We have approximately 3,768 4th liners but if we had to take him to get the rest of the deal done, it was well worth it.
