if so, i really hope the knicks go after vasquez. wanted him from NOH/SAC. a contract around what felton makes would be nice. if dude gets burn, he can do what he has to.

Yes, they could move everybody during the draft.

They couldn't. New season starts 1st of July. You can't trade expirings or players with options.

But they'd all have 1 year left and don't have options.

amar'e, bargnani, and carmelo can all opt-out this summer.

amar'e is probably on his last $20M+ contract, and bargnani may be on his last $10M+ contract. Expecting these two to opt-out would be a waste of time.

yeah I see no way in hell bargs and amare opt out...they won't come close to what they are making now.

If Melo leaves (assuming it would be on a S&T to the Bulls).

I would then trade Chandler and Shumpert (for picks)

Felton's contract will hopefully be voided

If JR comes back focused next year we could possibly trade him for an expiring by next seasons deadline.

That would mean we would have only this money on the books in the 2015 offseason

-THjr on the books for $1,304,520
-Appox 5-6 million on (2014 1st round picks) - depending on how many picks we can grab for Melo (S&T) & chandler/shump deals.
-2015 (top 5 pick hopefully) - do to tanking (slightly over 1 million)
-2015 (bulls pick) - slightly over one million

So say that is 10 million right there for approx. 7 players.

Assuming the Cap is 60 million in 2014-15 I think it is safe to say the 2015-16 cap could be anywhere from 60-62 million.

That would leave use approx 50-52 million to spend on FA.

I would target Dragic for about 15 million per, Marc Gasol/LaMarcus Aldrige for the max. And then a wing player. Maybe we can throw 10 million at a wing player like Kawhi Leonard or a little less at Jimmy Butler (two restricted FA). Or we can sign a 3-D guy like Danny Green for 5 million or Wesley Matthews for a decent contract.

That would be about 10 players signed to about 55 million or so. Leaving us some wiggle room to sign a couple additional players.

Possibly Projected 2015-16 New York Knicks Roster (I wont use any restricted FA for the sake of doing this):

PG - Gorin Dragic
SG - Wesley Matthews/Tim Hardaway Jr
SF - Danny Green (type player)
PF - LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Joel Embiid (praying to god he waits to come out a year and we win the lottery)

and then to round out the rotation the 4 1st round rookies which we drafted in the 2014 draft with the (Melo S&T and Chandler/Shump) deals.

That is possible and doesn't require crazy trades. A little luck with Embiid but we can look for any young big like Okafor/Cliff Alexander.

Melo for Drose, like I said in the other thread that got locked for some reason. I seriously think we can and should be able to get that done with and S&T.

After what we went through with H20 & Amare you want to get a another max player with knee issues?? There's a good chance that guy will not play even half a season again with the way he keeps getting injured. Also, I think CHI worships the ground this guy walks on. A hometown kid coming back to make them relevant. Looks like he'll be there for at least one more year. Maybe next year if and when the same thing happens again he'll lose some of his luster.

It's a great idea, but I think we should be super cautious & CHI still thinks he's a top 5 player for some reason.

stop with this stupidity, chi isnt going to part with drose if he's healthy, because when healthy he's a much better player than melo. also if he's healthy he would be the very reason melo would want to go there.

if he's not healthy, why would we bother with him?

too much of a gamble for us, and just the right amount of a gamble for the bulls. the only reason to go after melo is to pair him with rose.

How does this sound guys

Knicks- Carlos Boozer, Kendrick Perkins, Reggie Jackson, Tony Snell, OKC 1st(2015), CHI 1st(SAC), CHI 1st(2014), CHI 1st(2016) and a 2nd Round Pick(OKC)
Bulls- Carmelo Anthony(S&T) and Thabo Sefolosha(S&T)
Thunder- Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert

We can either use Perkins, Boozer, etc as trade bait or buy them out and let Cole and Tyler get the minutes

we have Chicago use their 1st this year and make a selection for us. 3 1st Rounders next year in 2015 and another in 2016 to replace the one we lost to Denver/Toronto. Reggie Jackson and Tim Hardaway become the starting backcourt. JR is moved for pennies on the dollar. We let STAT ball out while he's here. Bargs gets moved.

Bulls get 2 guys they want/need
Thunder get an upgrade at Center so they make a championship push and Shumpert who can hopefully find his game again.

If Melo stays I'd look into using Bargnani's expiring and Tim Hardaway Jr for Aaron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson. Afflalo is what we hope Hardaway will become, but with Melo turning 30 it's worth trading the future upside for a win now player. Jameer Nelson is still a solid starter and would be an upgrade at the point. Sign Shawn Marion with the mid level:

Chandler
Anthony
Marion
Afflalo
Nelson

Bench:
Prigioni
Shumpert
Smith
Stoudemire
Tyler

I could live with that.

The the Knicks say no. Look, we have visited this before. To create enough cap space for Melo the Bulls need to move BOTH Gibson AND Dunleavy AND not take back any salary. Additionally, they will lose their mid level exception and Kirk Hinrich's bird rights. If the Bulls want to get Melo and win now they will need to do a sign and trade.

The rights to 1 of their 2014 picks
Their 2015 1st round pick
The pick they got for Deng
Rights to Mirotic
Carlos Boozer

This is a fair deal for all sides involved.

yeah bulls fans need to realize if they want Melo this is what it will take to sign him outright with a S&T

-amnesty boozer
-trade taj Gibson for a TPE and pick
-trade Dunleavy for a TPE
-they would be under the cap so they wouldn't have the MLE to bring over mirotic.

So there roster would look like this.

C - Noah/minimum guy
PF - 2014 pick CHA pick
SF - Melo/minimum guy
SG - Butler/Snell
PG - Rose/minimum guy

or with a S&T there roster could look like this:

C - Noah
PF - Taj Gibson
SF - Melo/Dunleavy
SG - Butler/Snell
PG - Rose/Hinrich

Then they would still have there MLE to sign another big

There isn't even a comparison of which team is deeper and better. Bulls would only have noah if they wanted to sign Melo outright without a S&T

On draft night trade Tyson and cash to the suns for 2 1st rounders(they have 4) or a 1st and a second. Trade shump to okc for their late first. During the summer go after rondo in a three team trade to give boston a pick, cap relief and young player..

Knicks trade
Bargs,Amare,ray,1st from the suns

Knicks get
Rondo,gwallace,jrich

Philly trade
Thaddeus young,jrich

Philly get
Bargs,2nd pick and cap space 2015

Bos trade
Rondo,gwallace

Bos get
Amare,ray,thaddeus young,1st round cap space 2015

2014-2015 Knicks
Coach Mark jackson,

Rondo/toure
Timmy/jr
Gwallace/Pick
Melo/Mid level
Tyler/Mid level
J.R. Smith's last-second whiff left the Knicks with a sixth straight loss. But J.R. would do it again. "I think we went with the best shot," he said.
