Drew Gooden had a beard growing contest with DeShawn Stevenson. Maybe living in Bethesda was part of the bet which Gooden lost. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsports ... ntest.html

Or maybe he won the bet and Stevenson had to let Gooden live in his Bethesda condo for a year as a result. I really don't know why people are surprised that Gooden chooses to live in the DMV. It's a great area for a lot of reasons, imo.

I figured his dumb-ass "haircut" was part of it.

Gooden keeps an offseason home in Orlando but said he has been splitting his time since January in Bethesda, where his girlfriend has a business. Wizards senior vice president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard allowed Gooden to have access to the facilities to work out on his own while the team was on the road.

So once he find he sea legs, I wonder who will start...

Doesn't seem to me that AH would. He is best used off the bench, though I loved the body shot he gave to Hansbourgh. Looks like we finally have an enforcer. Actually we have a few players that have some tough to them but I hadn't seen anything like what AH did since the Rick Mahorn.

I don't think they will start Kevin. They need him as the back up center.

So its really down to Gooden, Booker and Singleton.

I see Booker keeping the starting job for now and if it works, they can stay like that, but I could also see them turning to Gooden with Booker, Singleton and AH backing him up and bother AH and Gooden could get some center minutes when needed.

I gotta say. I am kind of liking having some seasoned vets that can still play on the team. Having Miller is awesome. There is just so much to the NBA game. Being athletic is great but knowing how to play the game at this level and having experience in what to do and when is so valuable.

Miller doesn't need to jump over anyone to be effective.

Any chance the Wizards don't give Gooden another 10 day contract based on his recent games?

Kanye- we can only hope. Given his proclivity to mess up, that will mean a near-max deal from Ernie.

my guess would be that it would depend on whether he shows any
productive ability and what their outlook for a prompt return to
action for Seraphin is.

a ten day renewal is a pretty low risk thing though.

I think they keep him at least for another 10 day to have a big to bring off the bench. They might not keep him after that if Seraphin is healthy.

Shake your head? I think this is probably as good a 10-day prospect as you can find. I'm sure OKC would have rather had Gooden than Caron.

Yes, I would rather us search the D league for a young gun to bring off the bench. Ernie's been loading up on the Senior Citizen circuit (Gooden, Harrington and Dre) to save his job - especially since he ignored the bench in the off-season, save signing the already exiled Maynor. If it continues to work, great. I suspect it will not. But I think we can also search for a diamond in the rough as well.

I know it's stupid, but something about a player wearing a high jersey number makes me feel like they don't give a f*ck. Whenever I see number #90 on the court I feel like he doesn't care.

What's the best player-season by someone who wore a number greater than or equal to 60? Ron Artest in 05-06 is all I got. What are some other good ones?

The only iconic number greater than 60 that I can think of is Rodman wearing 91. 55 is a good number for a Center. Mutombo and Hibbert both wear/wore it.

There was a report that Gooden wanted to wear "0" but the Zards wouldn't let him. Don't know how true that is. Gooden wore "0" when he played for the Clippers.
