I haven't looked into who yet, but on a cursory glance at http://hoopshype.com/free_agency/shooti ... s_2014.htm there were 3 that seemed to me to reasonably fit the bill who wouldn't break the bank (won't name because I'm not going to debate the merits of the players now, haven't even looked into this)
Again, this is if Ben doesn't show anything of substance coming down the stretch
Yes, I have looked at all of the free agents for this year and next year. And no, there are none that realistically could come here and help us improve in the manner you suggest.
But even looking at the rankings of HoopsHype
1. Wade - No Chance
2. Lance Stephenson - Can't Afford
3. Evan Turner - Can't Afford
4. Avery Bradley - He'll get offers of the full MLE from contending teams most likely. Defensive SG's like him will get many offers. We can't offer more than the MLE.
5. Ray Allen - Too old, won't go to a rebuilding team
6. Nick Young
7. Thabo Sefolosha - Would be great fit, only he'll be getting the MLE offer that we could offer him from better contending teams. He's not leaving a OKC to come to Sac.
8. Vince Carter - Too old
9. Jodie Meeks -
10. Jason Richardson - Too Old
11. Alan Anderson - Who is this?
12. Jimmer - Lawl
13. Anthony Morrow
14. Ben Gordon
15. Shannon Brown
16. Marshon Brooks
So, I guess if you're looking at one of those players...I guess? Would just be a treadwater-type of a move.
Don't forget, some of those, or even ones not on the list could possibly be traded for. Tony Allen might be available for the right package. Memphis may be looking to upgrade their SF spot, perhaps Williams might interest them. With that said, who knows what this teams PG spot will look like this summer. All it will take is one team willing to front load a deal to steal IT away. That to me means he's most likely gone unless they can do the impossible and unleash some of these bad deals onto a team willing to take them.
Thabo is the guy I want to see them go after, not sure if he's worth the MLE though. Not even to OKC. The interest in him should be under the premise that you have little defense and some shooting ability coming from your PG spot.
Treadwater. I guess the Kings are one step below that? We've seen this year alone the difference the right kind of role players can make. Luc before he was traded, Reggie Evans and Ray McCallum now. This team has the scoring part on lock down, and has had it for years, IF they use the right system. Once again, new day, same 'ol story. The Kings go to Cousins and get him some players willing to move and the offense springs back to life. If I'm Malone, I start every game with a backdoor play or a screen for Gay or IT off the ball and back to the wing.
