Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
They just won today and Memphis lost but I still feel losing could help. In this video I breakdown why and how it has long term effect.

Re: Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
Suns should intentionally lose so they can get a #13 pick? Embarrassing.
Back in the old days a tanker would advocate losing for at least a top 5 pick!

Re: Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
No, no no. We've been hearing this all year. And it's absolutely ridiculous for a young team on the cusp of a playoff run to suddenly drop out of the race for unproven assets. Again: it's absolutely ridiculous. You want to put on a good showing and really gun for the playoffs because that creates a culture of success. And that's not just for the players on the team, it's for free agents and trade targets that you would potentially pursue in the off-season. And free agents and trade targets are not unproven assets.

What a waste of a season that would be. No offense.

I mentioned toward the end how only if they were 3 or 4 games back, as by then, they'd have no playoff shot, so why not try to get another first rounder? As of now only 1 so of course go for it, but if it gets worse then it should be considered IMO.

If you went to Jeff Hornacek and told him to be dishonest and rest a health Eric Bledsoe so the team can lose, he would tell you to f**k off and stay the hell away from the team. And what is weird about that last sentence is that Hornacek is Mormon and never curses!

Also, a healthy Bledsoe would never passively sit by when told he is not going to play because the team wants to lose. He is looking to get a big payday as a RFA and wants to showcase his talents to the Suns and the rest of the league. Can anybody on this forum imagining a perfectly healthy Bledsoe just meekly sitting on the bench game after game and never saying anything? Do you think Bledsoe's agent would tell the media that his perfectly healthy client was being made to illegally sit just so the team could lose and get a #13 pick?

Re: Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
Only way it would make sense is we let Minnesota pass us in the standings so we end up with 2 lottery picks in the supposedly great draft or whatever.
But I think we are so close to playoffs right now, I wouldn't tank. Maybe if we absolutely drop out of playoff race you can consider it but right now? Nah I wouldn't do it.

Re: Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
The wolves will not let us catch them they need that pick more then us.
I'm only for tanking if its going to land you a elite draft pick and we are way passed that point.
That same exact video can be made for Dallas,NYK,Cle,Bobcats,Pistons.
Why shouldn't they give in the season as well? Those teams need better draft picks as well as they are in no better situation then the suns.
The worst that can happen is we barely miss out and get 9 th seed and we sell high on a lot of guys

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.
Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Can we create a pre-thread-lock rule related to tanking issues?

Re: Why The Phoenix Suns Should be Tanking
Youngster please remove the word tanking from your vocabulary. The premise of losing to acquire to acquire Minny's 1st round pick is stupid. We do not want a losing culture. We want the Suns to make a playoff run so that our young players gain valuable playoff experience even if it is against OKC or the Spurs. Every team must pay its dues.
There is only one interesting point you make that I agree with. It is unlikely we will ever see Minny's first round pick. It is lottery protected and Minny will not make the playoffs anytime soon. So that trade netted two second round picks (Minny's 2016 and Minny's 2017 second rounders). So the future drafts shape up like
2014 - three 1sts and 1 2nd
2015 - two 1sts and 1 2nd
2016 - one 1st and 2 2nds
2017 - one 1st and 2 2nds
The only mistake I think we made was not giving Okafor and the two 2nd round Minny picks to the Lakers for Gasol. We have two rookies in Len and Goodwin with potential for 13 more in the next four years. That is way too much youth on one team. While they can be used for trades, I don't expect two second rounders will net us very much.

I wonder what the numbers would look like if we had a poll on who supports/doesn't support tanking.

If that was poll was created prior to the season start, I would estimate that around 80% vote in favor of tanking.
