He was the Ice Man last night.
That was a HUGE 3 he hit.
I love that he brings to the team. He is going to help a lot come playoff time. He not only is producing, but I like the way he personality fits on the team. No doubt they bring him back for the vet min since MIK is paying him 6.8M next year anyway. That's a HUGE find when you consider he cost only the vet min.
Real interesting what Miller, Gooden and AH bring beyond just knowledge and experience.
Miller and AH while not slashers are bringing a driving threat. They do it slower then a slash but they do take it to the hoop. Miller with the post up moves and AH with the spin drive moves. They both work the angles and get leverage to get closer. They really addressed the teams biggest needs. Driving and ball handling. And a back up PG to boot. And they add toughness.
And Gooden is bringing some S4 or S5 that is opening the floor. If AH ever gets it dialed in, he will add even more of that. They can play legit small ball with these players added because they can also get physical in the post.
Now add Nene to that and they might make things real interesting if Randy can mix and match them at the right time. If things continue to gel and Wall can really nail the 3 ball and continues to drive more, they might actually have something legit for this playoff run.
Every game is important for them working these things out and gelling more but there are not a lot of games remaining to do it. Very interesting though. I see some legit potential for this team. Great growth opportunity for Wall and Beal. They should be able to learn a lot from this and these vet players. Gortat helped Wall lean the PnR. Miller should be able to teach him pace and post up.
Miller, TA, Gooden, AH, Nene, Gortat are some well seasoned vets to learn from.

I think he'll likely resign with us considering the Bucks are paying his salary for next year, so he can make the minimum. He also loves in the area. He's been a godsend as a backup stretch PF. He still looks pretty athletic out there.

Would love to see him do that and outperform Blatchemo

So Aaron Rodgers started throwin' bass; now Gooden's throwin' back midrange?
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

I really like the way Al tries to get to the basket. I expected that kind of penetration from Miller but Harrington has been a surprise in the regard. Harrington's 3 pt shot hasn't been there but he's been contributing with his aggressiveness and toughness on both ends of the court.

Actually, he was known as Dr. K, because of his propensity for strikeouts (K's). It got shortened to Doc over time...

Agreed on the slashing. Harrington has managed to get to the hoop a lot more than I expected. (Side note: Harrington's 3-pt shot hasn't been there for a long time now. He's averaging 34% from behind the line over the last five seasons. He's actually only ever had ONE season where he shot higher than 37% from downtown.)

Re: The Official Drew "Midrange" Gooden Appreciation Thread
Not the Harrington thread, and anyway who cares -- he's not here next year.
But I can't see why Gooden would go anywhere else, or why we wouldn't sign him for the vet/min (and we won't need to pay more).
I hope no one is expecting him to play at his current level over a lot of games and minutes, however! He never has. I mean never ever in all the years of his career not once. Still... it's an awful lot of fun to watch him do it now! Go Drew go!

Maybe Gooden can teach him how.

I guess I expected him to shoot a little better than this from outside given the rumor of how he looked in practice. But then again, practice is not game time. Maybe he is still finding his legs. Gooden wasn't injured. AH was knee issues over the last two seasons. If they finally got it right, his legs should get stronger over the next 5 games. Hey, two dunks for him in the last few games after he missed his first one. He already looks like he is getting stronger.
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/i ... harrington
That one season you are talking about he took limited attempts... Only 3 per 33 min over 36 games and he hit at .458% The other part of that year was about 4 in 32 minutes over 42 games and he hit at .417%
That tell me if he gets a good look and he isn't just jacking them up, he should be able to do better then what we have seen so far which is 3 attempts in 15 mins at .321%
If less attempts get him to a higher rate, the threat of him being able to do it will be enough to stretch the floor. Specially if Gooden can hit from 3 now, and he is out there with Beal, Webster or Otto. If that's the game, AH should focus on driving more.
I would like to see them get Otto in there when Webster isn't getting it done and they need a spark/younger legs. I think having the young man out there picks the team up some and they can trap more. Plus he is scrappy, rebounds well in space and looks like he can hit an open long ball as well. Plus I think it picks Bradley up. I think he gets excited not being the only young'n out there and he and Otto are friends.
Did you know Otto is 25 days older then Beal ? They are born the same month. I can see those two bonding.

The eFg% is 51% on 3-pt shooting at 34%. Al's is a good enough percentage. Harrington needs the deep threat to keep drawing bigger defenders away from the rim. He can drive past them or dish to cutters.
AH and Gooden each are going to really be effective with a healthier Nene.

Gooden deserved the extension for the remainder of the season.
